Dawn ’ s Diary
Dear Diary, I attended a talk from Becca Dickens’ from Regenerative Life Farms
at the Arthur Public Library and heard her speak about good gardening practices.
She said dandelions will grow where the soil is bad, who knew!? Those dandelions actually put calcium into the soil, so when we look out into the yard and see those yellow blooms, don't get upset, they are helping your soil. She also talked about the underground communication network between trees and other plants and when they are being attacked by insects or disease it transmits signals underground to similar plants to warn them of the danger. They will give up their life to save the other plants. Garden bugs will be found on the weakest plants in your garden. If you are lucky enough to have a toad in your garden they will eat the stink bugs that grow on your squash plants.
