ALL IN, ALL THE TIME The Core Philosophy That Defines Me and Our Firm

July 26th marks a day that resonates deeply with my personal and professional philosophy: All or Nothing Day. This is a day about embracing challenges wholeheartedly, a trait that has fundamentally shaped the foundation and culture of The Button Law Firm. Each day, we strive to give 110% to everything we do, ensuring our clients always receive the utmost care and dedication. This approach isn’t just how we work; it’s who we are.

I met Ashley at a legal seminar where I was a speaker, and she was an attendee. Her keen engagement and insightful presentation caught my attention immediately. After the workshop, I gave her some tough feedback — part of my all- in attitude. I pulled Ashley aside afterward and saw her writing down all my feedback. It was then that I recognized in her a similar commitment to giving her all. We talked for 45 minutes, and it was clear she shared the same relentless drive. That moment laid the foundation of a professional relationship and a partnership driven by mutual respect and a shared vision. Together, we built a team that embodies our foundational bond — a group of individuals who each bring an all-in approach in their unique ways. This common bond led us to our mission statement and remains a guiding principle for every team member. In the early days, determining our unique strength and passion as a firm was pivotal. We needed to find a focus that resonated with our values and where work felt less like work and more like a calling. We were always drawn to complex and catastrophic injury cases and soon found our niche in daycare injury cases. This focus allowed us to go all in, dedicating our resources and experience to becoming leaders in this area. As Steve Jobs famously said, “Innovation is saying ‘no’ to 1,000 things.” For us, this meant homing in on what we could do best

and saying no to distractions that could dilute our effectiveness.

Our approach to being all-in is about more than just our legal strategy; it’s our mindset, both within our team and with our clients. Each week, we assess where our team’s mindset is and whether they need to be challenged, motivated, or supported. Similarly, understanding our clients’ mindsets, especially those who have experienced trauma, is crucial. Many of our clients want to ensure that what happened to their child doesn’t happen to another. By aligning our objectives with their needs and desires, we not only advocate for them legally but also support them emotionally and mentally. At The Button Law Firm, being all-in means pulling the best out of each other, playing to each other’s strengths, and collaborating effectively. It’s about going for gold, not just as individuals but as a cohesive unit. True greatness comes from this collective effort — a lesson as relevant in the legal field as it is in the Olympics. So, on this All or Nothing Day, as the world watches the Olympics’ opening ceremony, we, too, celebrate our commitment to excellence, our dedication to our clients, and our continuous pursuit of being the best, not just for ourselves but for everyone we serve. –Russell Button

It’s no coincidence that the Olympic ceremony is also this month! Just as those athletes give everything they have to their sport, we give our all to our clients and community. Our mission statement, “Doing more to keep you moving forward,” directly reflects our all-or-nothing approach. This ethos was the connecting value between Ashley and me, and it was how we knew we needed to create BLF.

LAW, LIFTING, AND BEYOND! CELEBRATE JACKY’S 3 YEARS OF LEGAL EXCELLENCE AND HEAVY LIFTING

At BLF, we love celebrating our team members’ diverse talents and milestones. This month, we’re spotlighting an exceptional member of our firm: our Paralegal and Settlement Coordinator, Jacky, who is marking her third anniversary with us! Before joining us three years ago, Jacky had aspirations of becoming a police officer. However, she chose the legal path as a safer yet impactful alternative, much to her mother’s relief! Over the years, Jacky has honed her legal skills and become an

integral part of our family here at BLF. She initially joined us after interning for a law office in Dallas, living with her mom, and juggling the demands of a new career. Today, she’s graduated from college, moved into a new home, and is a seasoned paralegal navigating the complexities of injury cases with a finesse that only comes from real dedication and a passion for justice. But there’s more to her than legal prowess. Outside the office, Jacky is an amateur powerlifter! She’s training for her first competition and has already hit a new personal record of 250 pounds in a squat. Her strength, however, isn’t just physical. Balancing a rigorous work schedule with intense training sessions and still managing to thrive in and outside the office, she exemplifies determination and discipline. Her talents extend beyond the weights and the law. Before dedicating her time to powerlifting, she spent time fixing up cars and

hanging out with her animals. Although she’s moved and couldn’t take all the animals, she took a few (the others are still with her mom!). Tom, her beloved husky, remains by her side, reminding her of her roots in animal care and the quieter moments spent away from the weights and legal documents. As she continues to grow with BLF, her goals are clear: to fully master her role and focus on litigation, where she can make the most impact. At the office, it’s all about helping our clients navigate their toughest days, and at the gym, it’s about pushing past her limits — a perfect metaphor for her approach to life and work. Here’s to three years of legal victories, personal growth, and heavy lifting. We can’t wait to see how many more records Jacky will break — both in and out of the courtroom. Happy work anniversary to a truly remarkable member of the BLF family — your drive and dedication inspire us all!

As we enter the peak of summer in Texas, the sweltering heat reminds us of the dangers lurking in our daily routines. One risk is children being left in hot daycare vehicles, which has been occurring at an alarming rate. This oversight can lead to tragic outcomes, which is why there’s a critical need for vigilance and stringent safety measures in childcare settings. HOW CAN IT BE PREVENTED? According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an average of 38 children lose their lives from being left behind in a hot vehicle each year. This doesn’t even include the number of children who suffer from heat strokes and other conditions due to being stuck inside a hot car. This recurring issue points to a significant gap in safety protocols among daycare providers. There are several key measures that daycares must take to prevent such incidents: • Implementing a Check-in System: Daycare centers should have a reliable system to ensure that as children leave the van, each child is accounted for and safely enters the building. STAY ALERT AS TEMPS RISE How to Prevent Kids From Being Left Behind in Daycare Vehicles

• Secondary Checks: A second employee should verify that the van is empty, and the vehicle should then be locked to prevent reentry. • Comprehensive Roster Checks: Once inside, there should be a secondary roll call to confirm the presence of each child against the day’s roster. • Regulatory Involvement: Parents must report incidents of a child being left in a daycare vehicle to the police and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. This ensures a formal investigation and pressures regulatory bodies to enforce stricter safety measures. We cannot stress enough the importance of advocacy and accountability in protecting our children. Daycare centers must be held to the highest standards of care. To all parents and guardians, we urge you to discuss safety protocols with your daycare providers actively. Ask questions, understand their processes, and ensure they follow rigorous safety measures. If your child has ever faced the frightening situation of being left unattended in a hot vehicle, or if you have any concerns about the safety practices of your child’s daycare, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Call us today for a free case evaluation, and let us help you advocate for the safety and well-being of your child. Remember, your vigilance and action can help prevent future tragedies and keep children safe.

PREVENTABLE PAIN, LASTING IMPACT Daniel’s Story and How We Fought for Justice

At The Button Law Firm, we’ve had the privilege of supporting numerous families affected by daycare negligence. One case that vividly stands out involved young Daniel*, whose distressing experience at his daycare stressed the critical importance of vigilant care in child supervision settings. ( *The child’s name was changed to protect their privacy. ) Daniel was only 3 years old when he suffered severe injuries due to the negligence of his daycare providers. A caregiver tasked with Daniel’s safety carelessly closed a heavy classroom door without ensuring he had safely entered the room. Tragically, Daniel’s right ring finger was caught and crushed in the door hinge, leading to a fracture and a deep laceration that required 11 stitches.

trauma following the incident deeply affected him and his mother. She recalls the harrowing sounds of her son’s screams over the phone and the distressing sight of his heavily bleeding finger when she arrived at the daycare. This traumatic experience required an emergency room visit where the extent of Daniel’s injuries was fully realized. To make matters worse, Daniel, a naturally right-handed child, frequently expressed pain during routine activities, impacting his daily life significantly. His emotional well-being took a turn for the worse; he experienced outbursts, showed fear toward his teachers, and struggled to play with other children. To support him, his mother made the heart-wrenching decision to resign from her job and move closer to family out of state for additional support.

In representing Daniel and his mother, our goal was to seek justice for the physical and emotional anguish caused and to highlight the lack of adequate supervision and safety protocols at the daycare. The legal process was about holding the responsible parties accountable and ensuring that such negligence does not happen again, jeopardizing the well-being of other innocent children. Thanks to meticulous legal strategy and dedicated advocacy, we were able to secure a life-changing result that acknowledged the severity of Daniel’s injuries and his ongoing medical and emotional care needs. If your child has been injured due to the negligence of a daycare or childcare provider, remember that you are not alone. Legal support can be a crucial step in seeking justice and preventing similar incidents from happening again.

The physical pain Daniel endured was just the beginning of his ordeal. The emotional

CLIENT REVIEW

“The Button Law Firm has been a blessing since the very first phone call following my accident. They actually took the time to talk with me, giving me a sense of comfort in my already traumatic experience. This was my first major accident and a very odd one at that. With the honest, professional, caring guidance and attention to detail of Kaitlyn, Jacky, Cristina, Lilia, Elizabeth, Eurika, and Russell himself, I knew that I had made the right decision. This was my team, always easy to reach whenever I had questions and not only would they have the answers but they really took the time to explain things. From the ER to the doctors and the therapists, they have assisted me and continue to assist me in every step toward my recovery. I can’t thank them enough for all they do, and even though I pray I won’t need their services again … I will not hesitate, I’m calling Button!”

Paralegal Cristina Marks 4 Years at BLF!

4 FLOURISHING YEARS Congratulations Cristina on Your 4-Year Milestone! It’s been four incredible years since Cristina

adapted to but thrived in the dynamic environment of our law firm. Initially focusing on minor settlements, she shifted toward more intensive courtroom work, handling records and supporting our clients through complex legal processes. Her growth from handling initial client interactions to mastering the demands of trial preparation showcases her dedication and evolving expertise. Outside the office, Cristina’s life is just as busy, especially as a mom to a 9-year-old who is just as active, attending dance lessons and heading off to camp this summer. Balancing her career with being a mom might mean that Cristina doesn’t have much free time, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. Still, she makes time to fly to Florida now and then, catching up with friends and the family members she holds dear.

joined our team at BLF, and it’s safe to say she’s planted her roots deeply into the fabric of our firm! With a vibrant past that stretches from the sunny climes of Florida to the bustling streets of downtown Chicago, Cristina has cultivated a wealth of knowledge and experience that she brings to her role as a paralegal at our office. Cristina’s journey with us began after she decided to move to Texas in 2020, seeking to be closer to family and, admittedly, to the sunny weather she missed dearly. Before joining BLF, she honed her skills at a medical malpractice firm in Chicago, where she witnessed the complexities of litigation and trials firsthand — an experience that significantly shaped her approach to legal work.

Cristina’s goals for the future are clear. She’s eager to dive deeper into litigation, aiming to absorb all she can about courtroom dynamics and legal strategies. Cristina is an invaluable member of our team whose roots in law enable her to thrive in any situation. As we celebrate Cristina’s fourth work anniversary, we’re reminded of the warmth and expertise she brings to our team daily. Here’s to many more years of growth and success at BLF.

As we celebrate her fourth anniversary, it’s clear that Cristina has not only
