LAW, LIFTING, AND BEYOND! CELEBRATE JACKY’S 3 YEARS OF LEGAL EXCELLENCE AND HEAVY LIFTING
At BLF, we love celebrating our team members’ diverse talents and milestones. This month, we’re spotlighting an exceptional member of our firm: our Paralegal and Settlement Coordinator, Jacky, who is marking her third anniversary with us! Before joining us three years ago, Jacky had aspirations of becoming a police officer. However, she chose the legal path as a safer yet impactful alternative, much to her mother’s relief! Over the years, Jacky has honed her legal skills and become an
integral part of our family here at BLF. She initially joined us after interning for a law office in Dallas, living with her mom, and juggling the demands of a new career. Today, she’s graduated from college, moved into a new home, and is a seasoned paralegal navigating the complexities of injury cases with a finesse that only comes from real dedication and a passion for justice. But there’s more to her than legal prowess. Outside the office, Jacky is an amateur powerlifter! She’s training for her first competition and has already hit a new personal record of 250 pounds in a squat. Her strength, however, isn’t just physical. Balancing a rigorous work schedule with intense training sessions and still managing to thrive in and outside the office, she exemplifies determination and discipline. Her talents extend beyond the weights and the law. Before dedicating her time to powerlifting, she spent time fixing up cars and
hanging out with her animals. Although she’s moved and couldn’t take all the animals, she took a few (the others are still with her mom!). Tom, her beloved husky, remains by her side, reminding her of her roots in animal care and the quieter moments spent away from the weights and legal documents. As she continues to grow with BLF, her goals are clear: to fully master her role and focus on litigation, where she can make the most impact. At the office, it’s all about helping our clients navigate their toughest days, and at the gym, it’s about pushing past her limits — a perfect metaphor for her approach to life and work. Here’s to three years of legal victories, personal growth, and heavy lifting. We can’t wait to see how many more records Jacky will break — both in and out of the courtroom. Happy work anniversary to a truly remarkable member of the BLF family — your drive and dedication inspire us all!
As we enter the peak of summer in Texas, the sweltering heat reminds us of the dangers lurking in our daily routines. One risk is children being left in hot daycare vehicles, which has been occurring at an alarming rate. This oversight can lead to tragic outcomes, which is why there’s a critical need for vigilance and stringent safety measures in childcare settings. HOW CAN IT BE PREVENTED? According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an average of 38 children lose their lives from being left behind in a hot vehicle each year. This doesn’t even include the number of children who suffer from heat strokes and other conditions due to being stuck inside a hot car. This recurring issue points to a significant gap in safety protocols among daycare providers. There are several key measures that daycares must take to prevent such incidents: • Implementing a Check-in System: Daycare centers should have a reliable system to ensure that as children leave the van, each child is accounted for and safely enters the building. • Secondary Checks: A second employee should verify that the van is empty, and the vehicle should then be locked to prevent reentry. • Comprehensive Roster Checks: Once inside, there should be a secondary roll call to confirm the presence of each child against the day’s roster. • Regulatory Involvement: Parents must report incidents of a child being left in a daycare vehicle to the police and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. This ensures a formal investigation and pressures regulatory bodies to enforce stricter safety measures. We cannot stress enough the importance of advocacy and accountability in protecting our children. Daycare centers must be held to the highest standards of care. To all parents and guardians, we urge you to discuss safety protocols with your daycare providers actively. Ask questions, understand their processes, and ensure they follow rigorous safety measures. If your child has ever faced the frightening situation of being left unattended in a hot vehicle, or if you have any concerns about the safety practices of your child’s daycare, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Call us today for a free case evaluation, and let us help you advocate for the safety and well-being of your child. Remember, your vigilance and action can help prevent future tragedies and keep children safe.
