Kilimnik has a particular interest in the intersection between contemporary mass culture and the aesthetic representation of a romanticized past. This surprisingly diminutively sized painting imagines a rearing Lippizanner— one of the world’s oldest pure breeds—at one of the emperor’s greatest victories during the Napoleonic campaign.
