Using an expressionistic visual language characterized by bold, black outlines and bright layers of paint, Chase depicts the moments of intimacy, companionship and eroticism to be found in the urban environment. In forks and oranges , a simple shared glance at the contents of a fridge— a ubiquitous everyday act–is dramatized into something extraordinary; the dazzling yellow interior and the couple’s dynamic poses suggesting a portal to a mysterious unknown beyond. —HJ
