Orrville were just over $8 million. “This year,” said Steve, “we are tracking at $30 million.” The company’s equip- ment modernization isn’t finished, however. McElroy says the company’s “ancient” Post folder gluer — the first one that Bobst put its name on after it acquired Post in the late 1980s — is likely the next upgrade. But for the time being his focus has shifted from ma- chinery to beefing up sales and unmatched customer service. Customers, he said, need to understand how our newly added capacity can serve their needs. “We’ve re- ally made an emphasis on backing the salespeople and giving them all the support they need,” he said. “We have a very diverse customer base, and we have invested in new equipment to where we have better capabilities.” In fact, in the past eight years, McElroy Packaging has com- mitted more than $14 million in equipment, machinery and improvements to better serve its customers and their di- verse packaging requirements. The EMBA 295 QS Ultima flexo folder gluer is but the newest of these additions to McElroy Packaging’s capa- bilities, providing speed, efficiency and quality for every customer’s order, and greater productivity and improved profitability for the company’s bottom line. “This acquisi- tion,” Steve said, “has made it possible for us to continue what our battle cry is: ‘Take care of the customer!’ We’ve got to have unmatched customer service. It can’t just be a slogan on a T-shirt. We’ve got to perform. If we tell you it’s going to be there Tuesday morning at 9:00, come hell or high water, you’re going to have it Tues- day at 9:00!” Steve Young is the former presi- dent of AICC.
