Aside from networking, participants had the opportunity to hear from three notable panellists who shared their firsthand knowledge and scenarios happening in the planning and implementation stages at municipalities, revealing potential avenues for industry players to assist with relevant smart solutions. In addition, Eunbyul Elena Cho, Head of Programme Department, made a special appearance online on behalf of World Smart Sustainable Cities Organisation (WeGO), a new strategic partner of MSCA. She specifically draws attention to the opportunity for MSCA members to take part in the Seoul Smart City Prize while also highlighted their services and networks that can be leverage going forward. The townhall concluded with an interesting closing quote from the moderator and thankfulness for everyone's participation today and hope that the momentum and conversation towards the realisation of smart cities continues. MSCA Working Visit to SM-WEZ Corporation 21 May 2024 SM-WEZ Office, Melaka

MSCA, MIGHT and SM-WEZ Corporation had an initial meeting to discuss on collaboration for ESG realisation in the development of the Straits of Melaka Waterfront Economic Zone (SM-WEZ). Datuk Shamsul Ambia bin Abdul Aziz, CEO of SM- WEZ, expressed certain concerns and issues related to land reclamation development, emphasising the importance of a strong unique selling point and a few big-ticket items. Responded altogether, Ts. Dr. Raslan Ahmad advocated expanding connections beyond the local context by leveraging the AIM Congress platform next year, with Abu Dhabi as the benchmark for its ESG best practices. Additionally, Dr. Raslan recommended SM-WEZ to prioritise quick win projects (12 months) that are aligned with industry needs and can be facilitated by Malaysia Smart City Alliance Association (MSCA). Looking ahead, MIGHT welcomed SM-WEZ and MGTC to formalise a tripartite MoU following with the next course of action in bringing SM-WEZ agenda globally. Also, presence in the meeting is the Chief Executive Officer of Melaka Green Technology Corporation.
