Ready to Race The 2023 blessing of the canoes was held just in time for the first race of the regatta season. ➳ Last month, the Club continued its beloved tradition of blessing the wa‘a. The Friday night sunset celebration was one to remember. Coaches, paddlers and their families gathered as Kahu Kordell Kekoa blessed the Club, its members and the fleet. After the moving ceremony, eager paddlers picked up their jerseys and joined teammates and other members to enjoy a screening of the documentary “Waterman” on the volleyball courts. The koa canoes—Kakina, Kaoloa and Leilani—continue to write OCC history and simultaneously connect us to our past and present. We look forward to watching as ‘Iwalani and Manu o Kū—the newest additions to our racing fleet—make their mark.
