March 2024 Oracle

The February Fritters & Fun was held on the 3rd. The game this month was Dingles. There was some very competitive play, as well as a lot of laughter. At the Tennis Committee meeting it was decided by a vote of the tennis community, to alternate monthly the fun social games of tennis that we ’ ve been playing, with round robins. Come join the fun on the 1st Saturday of the month.

Going for the GOLD! The Canadian and American Teams are all geared up for this year's CanAm Games . This year we have 2 levels of play in both the Men ’ s and Women ’ s Doubles,

and 3 levels in the Mixed Doubles. Unfortunately the results were not available for this issue. A heartfelt thank you goes to Lucy and Doug Denham for coordinating all the tennis events for the CanAm Games.

The January Mixer was a very fun event held on the 20th. There were 64 players that competed on 8 courts. Following play, everyone gathered for a Mexican style lunch complete with chicken tacos.

Tennis Spotlight The Tennis Committee Fritters and Fun Coordinator is Karen Forsberg. She wants F&F to be a social event and an opportunity to meet others in the tennis community. She and her husband Jerel, are from Kelowna B.C. They came to visit Janice and Mike Henry in 2018. They bought a lot during that visit. She says they have no regrets. Thank you Karen, for your time on the committee and for keeping it fun.

Thanks to Bud & Kim Krahn for hosting this very fun event!

The Internal Mixed Doubles League that plays on Sunday, has 13 teams in 2 divisions. Thanks to Jane McMeekin for being the league Coordinator. Super Senior Women ’ s Team The USTA team, lead by Marge Nederveld is currently in 3rd place out of 8 teams. Marge has been the captain of this team for 15 years. She likes to tell the team they play for the exercise, the fun, and the food.
