STAVERTON-BASED CONSTRUCTION FIRM POSTS RECORD FIGURES Turnover rose by nearly £7 million over the last year at one of Gloucestershire's best-known construction firms. Income soared to £57.2 million from £50.4 million at the Staverton- headquartered business, which also created more than 80 new jobs. Electrical contractor Clarkson Evans, started in 1981 by now chairman Steve Evans, managed gross profits of £10.7 million, up from £10.2 million, for the period to September 30, 2018.

FOREST GREEN ROVERS OWNER WILL APPEAL STADIUM REFUSAL Forest Green Rovers’ chairman Dale Vince is expected to launch an appeal after Stroud planners rejected his proposals for a new 5,000 seat stadium close to Junction 13 of the M5 motorway. The Ecotricity founder was “frustrated” that the plans that would have seen Rovers leave Nailsworth for a site to the west of Stonehouse were turned down following a tense planning meeting. The plans were marked for approval by Stroud District Council’s planning officers, but turned down by the elected members on the planning and building control committee. Punchline has since heard rumours that Mr Vince will consider a fresh application for the stadium and the green technology park that formed the initial plans in 2015. "I'm confident of our prospects on appeal - not least because we have the recommendation of the officers of the council,” he said l
