The Old Council House (Licensed for civil ceremonies) The Old Council House is an elegant, neo- Classical Grade II*-listed building with many wonderful interesting features, including a grand sweeping staircase and outstanding decoration throughout with many original features. It was built from 1824 to 1827 by Sir Robert Smirke and is situated at the crossroads of Corn Street and Broad Street.
