Tough weekend for the Glens

went on the o#ensive with 19 shots in the "rst, but Gananoque ended up being the opportunist team, scoring at the ninth second of the game and adding one more goal before the "rst buzzer. The Glens didn’t back o#, limiting the Islanders to 9 shots in the second period while shooting 16 times on goalie Quinn Cota. Alexandria started the frame with a goal by Adam Cooke at the 39th second. The two teams then exchanged two goals each and the Islanders retreated to their hideout with a 4-2 lead. Protecting their 2 goal advantage, the Islanders played the defensive card in the third while the Glens unleashed 14 more shots on Cota for a total of 49. But Cota is on "re in the net this season and didn’t lose his concentration when Bradley Gabbour lit the red light for the 13th time in 12 games. Gabbour is still the scorer in the EOJHL Rideau/St. Lawrence Conference, with 25 points, 4 more than Nicolas Brazeau of the

Casselman Vikings. The Glens now have a 6-6 record and can now feel the Winchester Hawks and Morris- burg Lions breathing down their necks. Tonight, the Glens are at home for a face-

o# with the Athens Aeros, who lost two tight games last weekend against Akwe- sasne and Casselman. The following day, Alexandria will once again "ght with the Wolves, a third game since October 24.

ALEXANDRIA | Neutralized at home last week by the Glens, the AkwesasneWolves came to Alexandria with a vengeance on Halloween night, sinking their teeth into the game for the win. Goalie Nicholas Maheux had a busy night between the pipes, receiving 37 shots from the pack. Akwesasne took the lead at the end of the "rst period and scored back- to-back goals in the "rst three minutes of the second to gain a comfortable lead. The Glens responded at mid-period with Tristan Sabourin’s "rst goal of the season. But in the third frame, Akwesasne’s penal- ty kill was perfect and Cory Garrow stopped 12 shots, en route to a 4-2 victory. Two days later, the Glens were in Gana- noque to burn the Islanders.
