Elizabeth Wilkinson Partner & Head of Dispute Resolution

Elizabeth has over 20 years’ experience in advising on a wide range of commercial contract disputes, professional negligence actions and claims arising from the sale and purchase of businesses. She advises on the rights and obligations of directors and shareholders, partners and members of LLPs. She helps her clients to minimise risk in their operations and to protect the value of their businesses, in particular by enforcing restrictions in employment contracts and sale agreements. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has advised large corporates and PLCs, SMEs and owner-managed businesses as well as individuals. Elizabeth has been recognised as a Recommended Lawyer in The Legal 500 since 2009. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling and history. Daniel Stern Partner & Head of Property Litigation Daniel joined Slater Heelis in 2016 and heads up our busy Property Litigation team and is based at the Manchester office. He trained in London and has significant expertise in commercial, insolvency, banking and real estate litigation, advising both national UK and overseas clients on a wide range of residential and commercial property related contentious issues. He is known for his clear, pragmatic and cost effective solutions to complicated issues and his pro-active approach to resolving disputes. Chris Bishop Managing Partner Chris has been with Slater Heelis LLP since 1990. In that time, he has gained specialised experience in a wide range of contentious areas. Chris is responsible for heading the internal management of the firm, overseeing its Business services team. In 2011 he completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice Management at Manchester University with a Merit. Whilst Chris has taken on greater management responsibility within the firm, he continues to offer advice on a range of disciplines to both individuals and companies. Looking to the future, his focus is to ensure we meet the expectations of the firm’s clients whilst developing the firm to meet the demands of the rapidly-changing legal marketplace. ꢀOver the last 2 years he has overseen a number of lateral hires and mergers. Chris is also:- Governor – Cornell 6th form college. Director – Quarantine theatre company. Trustee – HUGSꢀ Out of office work he loves sports (participating and watching Man City), walking, the arts and live music. He’s also been a strict vegetarian for most of his adult life. Chris is recognised as a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 law directory . Sunil Mohindra came to England from Kenya with his family over forty five years ago. Sunil graduated from Imperial College London with an Honours degree in Physics in 1976, then in 1980 qualified as a solicitor, initially working in general practice. Whilst in general practice, he also qualified as an insurance broker and was a partner in his father’s insurance broking business. Sunil was recently awarded the title of Chartered Insurance Practitioner. Sunil has taken part in numerous DTI and other trade delegations and over the years has established a large network of overseas contacts, particularly in India. Sunil’s work has focused on commercial transactions including banking, mergers and acquisitions and cross-border transactions especially between the UK and India. Sunil has always been heavily involved in voluntary work. He is a Council member of Manchester Law Society and has been Chair, Deputy Chair or a Committee Member of numerous organisations. Sunil is a member of the Board of Trustees of TiE Global and is currently Chair of the annual TiE Retreat. He has been a past President of TiE UK North and has been actively involved in TiE for a number of years. Daniel Wise Associate Solicitor

Tom Christie Associate Solicitor Tom is an Associate Solicitor in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team. Tom qualified as a Solicitor in 2013. Prior to qualification Tom completed the Bar Vocational Course (now BPTC) attaining a Very Competent, being called to the Bar as a member of Inner Temple in 2009. Joining Slater Heelis as a trainee in 2012, Tom spent several months working within the Residential Conveyancing team before joining the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team. Prior to joining Slater Heelis Tom worked at a firm specialising solely in the niche area of Costs Law. Tom has carried this knowledge and his interest in Costs Law through to his present role at Slater Heelis. Tom specialises in a broad range of commercial litigation, including such diverse aspects as repossession, defamation, bankruptcy and insolvency. Tom has particular knowledge of property litigation matters (including Party Wall Act matters and boundary and right of way disputes), contractual disputes, professional negligence, and debt recovery. Tom also assists Slater Heelis as a whole in dealing with any Costs Law related issues, in addition to advising clients in this specialised area of legal practice. Tom puts his client’s aims to the forefront of any case, providing commercial solutions whether acting for private individuals or businesses. Outside of the office Tom is also a Governor at Manchester Health Academy, a local academy secondary school and sixth form. Prior to joining Slater Heelis LLP in 2013, Daniel was an Associate Solicitor with Cottrills. Daniel is an experienced Commercial Disputes and Property Litigation lawyer. Highly knowledgeable in the field of commercial litigation, he has particular experience of property litigation matters, breach of contract claims, professional negligence and debt recovery. Daniel is a member of the Property Litigation Association and can advise on all matters relating to property disputes. Out of the office he enjoys walking in the Lake District, skiing and is learning to play the piano. Daniel is recognised as a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 Law Directory.

Pritham Raj Associate Chartered Legal Executive

In the past twenty-six years, Pritham has specialised in general litigation and has a broad experience focused in areas such as corporate and individual insolvency, (having acted for numerous major insolvency firms during the course of his career), residential Landlord and Tenant disputes and possession proceedings, contractual disputes, and personal injury claims. He also deals with specific areas of immigration such as visit and spouse appeals.

Katie Ormston Trainee Solicitor Katy joined Slater Heelis in August 2017 as part of the Construction, Engineering and Projects team. She has acted for a range of construction and engineering based clients providing commercial advice and support. Her experience in both contentious and non-contentious areas includes working on a wide range of dispute resolution and avoidance matters including adjudications, arbitration, mediation and litigation. Katy works with clients involved in a variety of construction contracts, including standard forms and specialised contracts in order to provide on-going commercial assistance on construction projects. Katy is currently enrolled at Manchester Law School, studying her LPC on a part-time basis and is also proficient in German.

Ashlea Theaker Solicitor

Ashlea qualified as a Solicitor in Feb 2018 and has since been growing her skills and experience. She has joined Slater Heelis as part of the dispute resolution team, where she works hard to assist the team and continue to apply her expertise to help her clients. Away from work Ashlea enjoys going to festivals, travelling, cycling and attempting to bake.

Lorraine McDonald Paralegal

Lorraine is a Paralegal based at our Sale Commercial Office with over 12 years of experience applying her expertise in roles from Legal Secretary to Paralegal. Lorraine joined the practice as a legal secretary in January 2007 and has been growing and applying her expertise in the Dispute Resolution Department since 2009. Due to the vast amount of dispute resolution knowledge and experience gained over 11 years working as the Secretary to the Head of Department, Lorraine was appointed to the role of Paralegal in 2018 and assists the high quality performance of the team as a whole. Since becoming a Paralegal, Lorraine has continued to grow and apply her skills to make a massively positive impact to the overall Slater Heelis firm. Outside of work Lorraine enjoys reading, listening to a variety of music and spending time with her fiancé and two young sons.
