presenters, great food and some awesome prizes including an HD TV, air pods, an iPad, many gift cards and of course the grand prize of a trip to NADOA’s 50th Anniversary institute. Our October 17 meeting will be presented by Kimberly Wurtz with Phillips Murrah. She will be presenting “Navigating Oklahoma’s State Agencies” so it should be very informative for those of us who work in Oklahoma assets. Our Christmas meeting will be on December 12, and we hope to round out the year with more door prizes along with a vote on which charity will receive the proceeds of our 50/50 raffle along with any donations made at the meeting. Prior years we have been donating to the Bethany Children’s Health Center so I would not be surprised if this will again be our charity of choice. DADOA held its recent Board Meeting on August 23, 2023, at Enerplus’ office in downtown Denver. We enjoyed a buffet lunch from Tokyo Joe’s. We had a July luncheon with Carol Ann Hartnagle of Total Document Solutions, who presented on many aspects of records management. Carol Ann is a wonderful, energetic speaker with 30 years of experience in records management dealing with acquisitions, divestitures, and daily operations. She brought up lots of questions that should be asked and answered as to acquisitions and divestitures in order to avoid pitfalls. She touched on additional challenges that can occur after a deal is made and how those challenges can impact the records. It is always a pleasure to have Carol Ann as a speaker! DADOA will be offering a fall seminar on October 19. The seminar will be held jointly with DALTA. Topics so far are Bankruptcy and Field Operations. The 2023 officers of DADOA are: President-Sandi Rupprecht, Vice President-Wendy Hopkins, Secretary-Alicia Padilla, Treasurer-Allison Blancett, Directors, Troy Alsobrook, Kristina Gor & Liz Olds, Board Advisor-Leslie Jayne, and DADOA’s Director Representative to NADOA-Sandi Rupprecht The 50th Annual NADOA Institute was a series of first-time adventures for me- my first NADOA institute, my first trip to Kentucky, my first “Best Socks” competition- and all be warned: hands-down, (or toes up?), I’m GOING to win the next one- I’m looking at you, Quint! Extending beyond the outrageously beautiful dresses, the creative complete outfits, hilarious socks, and even bugle playing at the Kentucky Derby
As we reported in the last issue, DALWORTH and DFW- ALTA had entered into negotiations to merge and consolidate the two groups. In mid-June, DALWORTH was notified of DFW-ALTA’s inability to revise the By-Laws; thus, DFW- ALTA indicated they would be unable to move forward with the merger. Because of DALWORTH’s understanding of the deal, we did not host any events in the first part of the year. However, we are back in action and have a webinar scheduled at the end of September and have scheduled our Fall Seminar on November 2, 2023. We’ve got a great line up covering: a. Excel Tips & Tricks by Melanie Finnegan, b. Escheat Issues by Will King, c. Ethics for Land Professionals by Andy Graham, d. Lease Provisions by Eli Murray and e. Fixed vs Floating Royalty Interpretations with Steve Newton. We still have hope that DALWORTH will be able to join forces with DFW- ALTA in the future, but until then, the DALWORTH Board
