Museum, my appreciation for the effort in organizing and producing such an event grew deeper with each new face and by the hour. The caliber of talent of our presenters, the dedication to communicating the current events of our DO Analyst industry, and the commitment of service from our NADOA volunteers and Board to the members reinforced for me just how much of this type of human interaction is what we need now more than ever.

However, if presentations like “Light my Fire, Not my Water” and “How Can we Keep Out the Hackers” hadn’t blown my socks off for how good the storytelling was or how many of us have been affected by digital terrorism, maybe I would have entered the “Best Socks” contest... I can see how this might have been the plan all along! But let me not get too far off track... sorry for triggering anyone else who also had the pleasure of the “Grand Theft Auto” experience after the Museum visit.
The best synopsis of my first experience with the NADOA Institute would be that I found myself delightfully infected with motivation. I was motivated to talk to people again- partly from apologizing profusely to the faces behind the email addresses victim to my overabundance of “dumb” and sometimes very panicked questions. (PS- everyone was very generous and gracious, and truly- in this industry where lawsuits can change Webster Dictionary definitions of words, there are NO dumb questions). My mind was re-energized and my will to continue our obsessive hunt for the elusive decimal at the end of a story was reinvigorated. The bonds of shared history from being in the same room as the mentors of my mentor exemplified the spirit that created NADOA in 1974.
