music, and a great time visiting with our colleagues. I also thoroughly enjoyed the classes and speakers. The advanced excel class helped me find new ways of utilizing formulas to make data analysis easier. The Payout, PPA and JV Audit class was relevant to issues I work with daily. The unbundling deductions class helped me better understand the various components of the deductions to make gas marketable to sell and Shawn Morgan’s class on Hackers this year was fantastic (especially given the recent events with hacking on MGM and Caesar’s.) Thank you so much to PBADOA for sending me to Louisville! I hope next year’s recipients enjoy every moment of the conference like I did. --Nicole Newberry A great big “Thank You” to PBADOA for awarding me a scholarship to the 2023 NADOA conference in Louisville, KY. I had access to good food and to good music all within walking distance. I really enjoyed the OMNI hotel as the conference venue. It was easy to find your class and to maneuver between classes. The staff were friendly and helpful. This was the first time that I have attended a conference without a co-worker, so I was slightly nervous. That didn’t last long because I immediately started bonding with the people at my breakfast table and then in the classrooms. It was difficult to decide what sessions to attend but I did enjoy the ones that I chose. The speakers did a great job. I managed to learn something new in my refresher classes that I am excited to apply to some current situations at work. The conference was a positive experience that left me with a renewed enthusiasm for the industry. Thank you, again. --Rita Ornelas We are excited to resume our lunches after our summer break. Happy 50th anniversary NADOA!
SADOA hosted its third luncheon of 2023 on June 14 at the Tulsa Country Club. We welcomed M. Scott Hakel, VP of Land with EAG Inc. as the keynote speaker. EAG also sponsored the event and offered free admission for the first 33 registrants. His topic was “Leveraging Land and DO Technology.” We had 57 guests in attendance. Our fourth luncheon took place on August 9, also at Tulsa Country Club. Christy Williamson, VP of Commercial, Natural Gas Gathering and Processing with ONEOK, was the keynote speaker. Her speech was “Midstream Update and the Future.” This was timely as ONEOK and Magellan announced a merger that morning. This luncheon also had 35 guests in attendance.
