The Kappa Alpha Psi® Journal: The Undergraduate Issue

COVER STORY

“In February 2024, we launched the ‘Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow’ initiative. This initiative rewarded four young undergraduate entrepreneurs $500 to support their success and vision. These brothers also got to promote their businesses across our fraternity’s social media platform.” “I have also had the chance to be a part of the Undergraduate Loyalty Fund initiative committee. The Undergrad- uate Loyalty Fund is a reimagination of our support to undergraduate chapters as it currently exists in the more commonly known undergraduate endowment fund. This initiative of the 35th Administration strives to develop a new centralized and nationwide effort to garner financial support for each undergraduate chapter. This initiative will allow our undergraduate chapters to excel in producing meaningful programming events to support their universities and communities.” In reflecting on where he is in his tenure, Brother Smith stated, “My vision is not yet satisfied. I plan to create an ethos to help our fraternity enhance our marketing as a brand. We must market the achievements of our undergraduates to create more profes- sional opportunities for our brothers. I want to ensure every undergraduate has the opportunity to showcase his talents to the world. We must show the world more broadly what sets us apart as Kappamen.” His advice to undergraduate broth- ers seeking to serve in national roles is to take advantage of the many leader- ship opportunities available to them. “I believe it is crucial to seek knowledge through leadership opportunities.

JGVP Smith recently hosted a leadership meeting in the International Headquarters Boardroom.

“MY LAST PIECE OF ADVICE IS TO PROTECT YOUR BRAND. YOUR BRAND IS WHO YOU ARE, AND YOU MUST ALWAYS REPRESENT IT PROFESSIONALLY.”

These leadership positions will connect you with many brothers on different levels of our fraternity. As you connect with these brothers, you must soak up the knowledge being given to you. Dream big! Always envision the Kappa of your dreams and brainstorm ideas that will allow our fraternity to shine. My last piece of advice is to protect your brand. Your brand is who you are, and you must always represent it professionally.” Undergraduates are vital to the continued success and growth of Kappa

Alpha Psi, Junior Grand Vice Polemarch Smith notes that the Fraternity is embarking on a pivotal time of change. “It is a very crucial time for our brothers to be informed, invested, and involved in our fraternity’s business. We have so many resources catered towards our undergraduate brothers, and it’s import- ant for our brothers to take advantage of these resources. Undergraduate achieve- ment is currently at an all-time high. The 35th Administration is working to ensure the achievements of our under- graduates don’t go unnoticed.” ♦
