In retirement, he pur- sued numerous consulting opportunities, includ- ing; Executive Director Community Benevolence Corporation, a nonprofit corporation providing funding and technical assistance to at-risk and high-risk youth programs at local levels nationwide; Consultant to Sky Com- munity Development, Inc. - Grant Proposal and seminar and workshop facilitator; Consultant to the President of Direc- tions Data, Inc.; Advisor and Consultant to the President of Drew Dawn Enterprises, Inc., advising minority-owned firms doing broad-based con- sulting; Board of Trustees for Lifeway Christian Resources representing Washington DC and Maryland; and Consultant

In addition, the Commission ensures uniform Fraternity policy and procedures concerning releasing infor- mation to the public press. Among Tildon’s achieve- ments as Commission Chair include the publication of the fifth edition of The Story of Kappa Alpha Psi published in 2003, a revised Fraternity Songbook, an updated Etiquette and Protocol Manual, and numerous changes to The Kappa Alpha Psi Journal , including serving as interim editor in late 2010. Due to his years of valued service to the Fraternity, Tildon was bestowed the Elder Watson Diggs Award at the Centennial Conclave in Indianapolis, IN in 2011. On August 27, 2003 Grand Polemarch McMikle issued a 30-day period of mourning within Kappa Alpha Psi in observance of the passing of Brother Tildon. ♦

Tildon served in numer- ous capacities in the Prince Hall Masons, including 33o United Supreme Council and Prince Hall Shriners, where he served as Exec- utive Assistant to five Imperial Potentates. Tildon was a longtime active member of Kappa Alpha Psi. Tildon on his early years in Kappa. “When I graduated from Central State, I joined the Washington (DC) Alumni Chapter, where I met some of the giants of the Fraternity, who were stalwart members of what they call the “Flagship of the Fleet.” It was here that I met and played cards with Past Grand Pole- march Dr. William Henry “Stud” Greene, a mentor to almost every Kappa he met. I also learned from Brother Sylvester “Sal”

I later was a principal planner for a recognition banquet for Brother Sal.” Tildon subsequently held membership in the Hyattsville-Landover (MD) Alumni and the Winter Park (FL) Alumni Chapters. He served as Chairman of the Fraternity’s Publicity and Publications Commis- sion from 1999 to 2021. Under his stewardship, the Commission is responsible for formulating and rec- ommending to the Grand Board policy concerning official publications of the Fraternity, such as The Story

When you have a mentor as talented on upholding the institutions, traditions, process, protocols, and proce- dures of the Fraternity, as I had in Earl T. Tildon, it’s a loss, forever felt. It’s also a loss that must be remembered through actions. Brother Tildon was nothing if not an action-oriented strategic thinker who always had time for a brother willing to listen. – Editor’s Note
