IN2 Engineering was appointed in 2021 as part of a design team to provide comprehensive mechanical and electrical design services for the BREEAM-certified, nearly-zero energy building (NZEB). Early challenges associated with the project included a prolonged planning process, placing pressure on timings to ensure the project broke ground within a specified five-year timeframe once

HVAC systems, energy-efficient lighting and renewable energy sources, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint and enhanced occupant comfort.” IN2 used BIM 3D modelling to work collaboratively and create a cohesive design model with architects and the wider design team, helping to reduce any on-site issues. Its extensive experience and expertise in energy modelling gathered over the past 20 years has enabled the practice to deliver innovative high energy- performance building solutions, paving the road to the future of net-zero building designs. “This project not only exemplifies IN2 Engineering’s commitment to sustainability but also supports Belfast City Council’s vision for a greener, more sustainable urban environment,” said Barry. “The most satisfying aspect of the project, alongside the sustainability of the centre, is the contribution it makes to the local
