She serves as Chair of the Georgia Fire fi ghters Burn Foundation Board of Directors; Secretary-Treasurer of Women in Fire; and is a member of the Metro Atlanta Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Decatur Career Academy Advisory Council. Toni also dedicates herself to serving as a role model for others and mentoring them to succeed in their lives and careers. Chief Washington has overcome challenges and emerged with the determination of a lion who believes that the members of her department must be involved, are part of a team that works hard, and that they must make a di erence every day in the communities they serve. Her success in the fi re service, her innovative approach to management and leadership, and an unyielding desire to prevent harm, are part of the history she is leaving for the fi re and life safety industry. It is my pleasure to honor Fire Chief Toni Washington during this 2021 Woman’s History Month.
