MADD Honors Wisconsin and Iowa Law Enforcement Officers

This Spring, MADD contacted Wisconsin and Iowa police departments, requesting nominations for officers doing great work in impaired driving enforcement.

41 Iowa officers and 63 Wisconsin officers were nominated by their superiors.

Each officer received a MADD Hero Award Certificate and pin, including Officer Nick Sherman from the Polk City Police Department (pictured left). MADD thanks everyone in Iowa and Wisconsin who are working hard to end impaired driving.

Dionne Renee Brown 8/4/71 – 5/9/23

It is with profound sadness that MADD shares the news of the death of long-time volunteer Dionne Brown.

On February 4, 1991, Dionne’s life dramatically changed when she was hit by a drunk driver. Her survival is nothing but miraculous. Though she was confined to a wheelchair she still found joy in life and was known for her love of Vegas. For many years Dionne shared her story during Victim Impact Panels and other MADD presentations using a computer-generated audio program to share the words she could not share with her voice. We’ll never know how many people were affected by hearing Dionne’s story. We wish Dionne’s surviving family peace through this new journey of grief. Dionne will be missed by all those she touched in our MADD family.

June Peer Support Groups

This month bring changes to Zooming with Support. In an effort to be fiscally responsible, MADD has moved to using the Microsoft Teams platform. We are excited to roll out this new platform this month for all of our support groups. In order to better define our sessions we will use the name Peer Support Group. Sessions will be moderated by trained victim advocates and will give individuals affected by the crime of drunk or drugged driving an outlet to sharing their feelings.
