Customers and employees in Elkhart do not necessarily have the same concerns as those in Lexington, Tennessee or Glasgow, Kentucky. “We’ve been blessed by people that assimilate and work hard to fit into the culture of our company. Because we believe to be successful, you’ve got to have people that are from the area, connected to the community. It seems foolish to acquire a company that employs sharp, well-educated, hard-working people and then displace them.” Welch takes an organic approach to acquisitions. The move needs to be the right fit for the general health of the company, its mission, and most importantly, for the em- ployees who are affected. Welch Packaging spans 26 business units and employs near- ly 2,000 associates. It serves nearly 6,000 customers across seven states.
