From Chore to Cheer: Keep Going on Your Fitness Journey DON’T OVERDO IT
Embarking on a fitness journey can be a transformative experience, but it demands dedication, consistency, and an intentional approach. It shouldn’t just be about losing weight and sculpting your body into a more chiseled one; it should be a holistic endeavor equally focused on mental fortitude. The first steps can seem daunting, but we’ve got your back. Here are five tips to help you start and continue your fitness journey with determination until you attain your fitness goals. START SLOW The path to a healthier lifestyle begins with a slow introduction to a fitness regimen. Ease into a workout routine, allowing your body to adapt so you minimize the risk of burnout or injury. Whether cardio, weight training, or a combination, start with manageable sessions to set the foundation for long- term success in your fitness journey. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU Variety is the spice of life, which is true for fitness, too. Beginners should explore different workout styles to find what resonates with them. Barre classes, aerobics, Zumba, CrossFit, yoga, weight lifting — the world is your oyster. Trying out diverse activities keeps things interesting and helps you discover the most enjoyable and effective way to continue your journey. Don’t be afraid to experiment until you find the perfect fit for your unique preferences and goals. SET REALISTIC GOALS Setting achievable goals is paramount in maintaining motivation. Establish both short-term and long-term fitness objectives to make sure you’re witnessing your growth. These goals can range from increasing the duration of a cardio workout to achieving a specific weight training milestone. Celebrate these accomplishments, no matter how small, as it boosts confidence and reinforces commitment. Every step is progress, even if you think it’s small.
Understanding the importance of recovery is a vital aspect of any fitness journey. Rest days, proper nutrition, and sufficient sleep allow the body to repair and rejuvenate. Balancing workouts with this recovery is incredibly important for sustained progress in your journey. It’s not just about how hard you push yourself during workouts; it’s also about how well you take care of yourself afterward to ensure optimal performance and progress. HAVE FUN! Rather than viewing exercise as a chore, consider it an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth. Have fun with your fitness routine! Whether trying out new workout classes, engaging in outdoor activities, or playing pickup basketball, finding activities that bring you joy will make your fitness routine something to look forward to. Transform your routine into something exciting rather than something monotonous. Find what resonates with you and transform the journey into a source of excitement, as it should be about more than just physical health but holistic well-being as well. When you enjoy what you’re doing, it hardly feels like work. As you navigate this new journey, you’re reshaping your body and building resilience, discipline, and a new self-awareness about healthy habits. Embrace the process, relish the rest days, and let the journey become a testament to your commitment to your well- being. As you integrate this routine into your life, we hope you’ll transform yourself into a happier, healthier you. — Trent Huskey

7 GOLDEN RULES FOR A STREAMLINED LIVING SPACE
We accumulate a lot of stuff as we go through life, and it can pile up quickly. For practical and safety reasons, it’s good to reduce the clutter. If you aren’t sure what to keep, try following these seven rules for decluttering your home. 1. THE HOUSE FIRE RULE: If you’re organizing your belongings and unsure if you should throw something away, ask yourself, “If it burned away in a fire, would I care?” If you wouldn’t mind, you probably wouldn’t mind throwing it out. 2. THE 20/20 RULE: Consider giving away the things that cost under $20 and would take less than 20 minutes to replace. Many people keep too much stuff “just in case” they might need it later. 3. THE BOX RULE: If you’re going through your stuff and feel overwhelmed, put it all in a box and store it in your garage or basement. After six months, scan the box and donate everything you don’t need. 4. THE INVESTMENT RULE: Memories are
than a new T-shirt. So, be proactive about decluttering by buying more experiences with loved ones instead of more things. 5. THE HOME RULE: Everything you own should have a home. It could be a drawer, a room, or a designated spot on the counter. If it doesn’t have a place in your house and is just being stored, get rid of it. 6. THE OTHER PEOPLE RULE: When buying something, consider why you’re making the purchase. Is it for you or someone else? For example, a new phone might have better specs, but is it worth the money? And if you’re buying for someone else, consider if it’s something they really need. 7. THE 90% RULE: Love everything you own; only own your favorite things. Whether buying new things or decluttering, only save things that bring you joy at least 90% of the time. Remember, you own your things — they don’t own you. Don’t be afraid to give or throw away what you don’t need. If you follow these rules and declutter your home, you can free yourself from the burden of junk.

TIME SINCE LAST PAINT JOB If it’s been a while since your last exterior paint job, it might be time for an update, even if there aren’t obvious signs of wear. A good rule of thumb is to repaint your home every 5–10 years, depending on the quality of the paint, the climate, and the material of your home’s exterior. Regular maintenance keeps your home looking its best and can prevent the need for more significant repairs down the line. ESCAPE APRIL SHOWERS THIS SPRING 3 VACATIONS SPOTS TO AVOID SEASONAL GLOOM
April showers bring May flowers, but you don’t have to stick around to wait for them to bloom. Escape to these three destinations and enjoy the new life of spring without the rain. AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND, NETHERLANDS Why wait for May to see spring flowers? All April long, Holland sports the most beautiful colors in the world, and people from all over the globe go enjoy the Keukenhof Garden Festival. This festival has occurred for 75 years, and as it’s only 30 minutes away from Amsterdam proper, you can experience the best of both worlds. Explore the thousands of tulips during the day and then spend time in the city, exploring the beautiful canals and shopping districts in the evening. Don’t worry if you miss the beautiful flowers; most of the city’s museums and hotels have tulips, too. SEVILLE, SPAIN Embark on an enchanting journey to Seville, where vibrant culture and passion come alive. Picture yourself strolling through cobblestone streets where you can immerse yourself in the
parades that travel through the city during Holy Week. Brass bands build up to a beautiful celebration on Easter, and just two weeks later, the Feria de Abril begins. This fiesta is full of lively parties, even more music, and colorful costumes. Sevillanos on horseback and the clacking footwork of flamenco dancers are captivating to watch, so don’t miss out by getting rained in. MALTA Located to the south of mainland Europe in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is part of an archipelago consisting of several islands, including Gozo and Comino. Because of its diverse cultures, you’ll hear Arab accents in the language as you pass Baroque architecture. Nature lovers, hikers, and landscape photographers alike can explore the rocky coastlines, impressive rock formations, and dazzling sea caves, such as the Blue Grotto (Malta), plus beautiful beaches like Ramia Bay (Gozo) and Ghajn Tuffieha Bay (Malta). However, the biggest advantage of traveling in Malta is that everything is in full bloom: green fields, blooming citrus trees, and beautiful flowers. If you go in spring, you’ll beat the tourists, too, as summer is peak season.
