JELENA DIMKIĆ, KOPILOTKINJA / JELENA DIMKIĆ, FIRST OFFICER GOVORI / SPEAKING… To smatram velikim korakom napred, jer mi žene često dolazimo do rezulta- ta drugačijim putem, unosimo nove per- spektive i, svakako, više discipline.
If you could choose any destination in the Air Serbia network for a trip during July, which would you opt for? “July reminds us all of the seaside and endless blue, of views of white roofs and turquoise beaches from some beautiful bal- cony, which is why my choice would defi- nitely be Santorini. The approach to the ai- rport runway in Santorini is something that you remember for life, with the dramatic pa- norama of a volcanic caldera rising from the Aegean, while the wind that blows regular- ly from the sea guarantees ideal summer temperatures, without oppressive heat.” Aviation is an industry traditionally associated with men, but today there are ever-more women bringing special energy to the sector. What motivates you the most in this job? “I’m driven in this job by the love and sense of togetherness that we have in our fleet. You are correct that women are in- creasingly choosing this profession, which
I consider as being a big step forward, be- cause we women often achieve results via a different path and bring new perspectives, and certainly more discipline. But there is al- so that which we all have in common, and that’s a love for the dynamism in which the- re’s no room for error and control over a mi- ghty machine.” As a pilot, you enjoy the most beautiful workplace window in the world. Which summertime sight or route always takes your breath away when viewed from the cockpit window? “When we fly to Spain and Portugal, which are my personal favourite flights, we often fly over the northern Adriatic, with the terrain of Europe’s largest mountain massif rising in the distance, after which we des- cend towards the Mediterranean, where the Cote d'Azur can be seen as if in the palm of your hand on a clear day. The southern rou- te is equally breathtaking, with islands that you recognise as old friends appearing one by one: ‘Look, there’s Brac, there’s Sardinia, and that one over there is Corsica...’”.
