HOLIDAY WITH STYLE Summer fashion to remember If fashion has been obsessed in recent years with the idea of “nakedness”, from body-revealing dresses to minimalist silhouettes that erase the boundaries between clothing and skin, this summer season suggests something even skimpier

O n catwalks from Paris to the Mediterranean, de- signers have been rede- fining the very notion of summer attire. Bikinis are becoming more luxurious, sarongs are moving beyond beaches to conquer city streets, while shoes are slowly disap- pearing before our eyes. Spring/Summer 2026 fashion shows, but also several recent cruise collections, have provide clear in- sight into the swimwear trends that will mark the summer holiday sea- son, alongside a few unexpected twists.

One-pieces and bikinis adorned with shiny metallic details, intricate ap- pliqués and artistic tailoring, often worn under crocheted maxi dresses or lightweight resort outfits, hint at a self-confident and welcome return of maximalism in the beachwear world. Meanwhile, on other catwalks, design- ers opted for a more restrained ap- proach, relying on neutral colours and an almost imperceptible aesthetic that focuses on the actually tailoring. Fans of maximalist prints will be pleased to discover that animal prints, especially zebra patterns, are making a

major comeback this summer. The trend encompasses everything from timeless black and white designs to bolder inter- pretations. We've already analysed the playful tufting trend, while designers have presented a bunch of polka-dot de- signs on the catwalks this season. And that enthusiasm has now expanded to swimwear. These irresistibly charming prints are appearing in various colours. Alongside elegant silhouettes created in nylon, textured swimwear is one of the season’s top trends.
