read both of them. Think, for in stance, about “beans.” Did you know that when you eat green beans, re gardless of the variety, they are all left handed? I have never seen nor heard of any bean vine that climbed a pole except from left to right. One time, when I was sitting in a farm home up in Michigan, I asked the farmer whether his beans were left-handed or' not. He said, “I don’t know, I’ve never examined them.” “Well,” I said “then would you mind going out and seeing whether they are or not?” I watched him out of the window as he went from pole to pole. When he came back he said, “I never knew that before and I’ve been rais ing beans for many years.” On another occasion when I was speaking about beans, I saw a woman get very excited. After the service she came to me quickly and said, “I never knew before that beans were left-handed. That explains a mystery that has always bothered me and some very fine scientists, too. I had ten acres of beans planted one time. They were all green beans for the Chicago market. I thought I had a short vari ety so I had my men put in five foot poles. Then, when the beans devel oped and got to the top of the pole, they kept right on growing. I saw I had a high variety. I asked the men to remove the five foot poles and put in ten foot poles. They did this but in two days all the beans were dead. I sent for experts from five different states. They all examined the vines for bugs and blights but went away defeated. They had no idea what killed my beans. Tonight, in your sermon, I found out what killed them. All my men were right handed. When they rewound the beans up the poles, they wound them from right to left. The beans died.” You see, beans must have their own way or else they die of a broken heart. You can’t expect left- handed beans to grow up a pole right- handed. The atheist has no answer, the evolutionist has no answer, the agnostic has no answer, the chemist (Continued on next page) 25
