Biola Broadcaster - 1963-04

ing. When Mr. Poole stated “The Bi ble Institute of Los Angeles,” the po lite young fellow sm iled, said he cer tainly enjoyed the Biola broadcasts and pulled out a small pocket radio, tucked under his uniform. “You see, I carry this around w ith me a ll the time and, w h ile I am making m y de livery, I hear your broadcasts. I never miss them, and Biola comes first on m y radio list.” Then the two men en joyed a pleasant talk there on the curb of the public street. The young man told Mr. Poole that he had studied prophecy and that he was thinking of entering a Bible school; and asking the Lord to direct him to the right one. He now felt that maybe Mr. Poole had been the one the Lord had caused to leave his city map book at home so that he could meet him there on that street. Before leaving the young man, our representative was able to give him Biola material which would help him to decide on his future steps and the man asked him to go down the street two blocks to another comer where he should meet up w ith another young postman who also listened to the Biola radio programs and was in terested in our work of training mis sionaries. Mr. Poole followed the di rections given him , m et the second young man and at the end of that pleasant morning surprise, the Lord had all mapped out for him , had se cured two n ew friends for Biola. Both were tithers so they wanted to have regular monthly envelopes sent to them that they m ight share in Biola’s w orldw ide ministry. It is wonderful the way the Lord directs our steps when w e leave our plans in His hands. Some of these contacts cause heartaches and bring real burdens for prayer, others result in happy occasions and joyful surpris es for our representatives. A ll the men report stories now and then that could fill a book; some sound like fiction. Mr. Eugene Poole, who has been w ith the Bible Institute for 25 years in this kind of ministry, recently had one of these happy meetings w ith a young man in Inglewood whom he had never met before. He is a city postman and Mr. Poole did not even have his name to contact that day w h ile he was making calls in that area. It happened that for some reason our representative had left his city map book at his home that morning and he stopped this young postman to ask the direction to a certain street. The young man asked him whom he represented or for whom he was call
