the cattle business. We hope all of our customers have been able to reap the benefits of today’s record-breaking cattle markets and that their previous investments have positively impacted their bottom line.
On our end, there are certainly days when we scratch our heads and wonder if it is all worth it. While recent cattle prices have been encouraging and certainly help, our investment and dedication to this industry go far deeper than anything monetary. The people we have met and the relationships built over the years are what we truly value. We are raising our families within this industry and feel confident that we are setting them up for success by surrounding them with people who have strong work ethics and like-minded morals and values. A huge thank you must be extended to all the friends and family who make this sale possible. There is a tremendous amount of work done behind the scenes each year to ensure everything runs smoothly. We managed to schedule picture days during snow events and frigid temperatures not once, but twice this year. Despite less-than-ideal conditions, the team came together and made it happen—and we believe that effort shows as you flip through the catalog and see how the cattle are presented. Our greatest thank you goes to our customers. We are fortunate to have several core customers who have been repeat buyers for years and even decades. It is truly rewarding to visit with someone mid-summer or receive a phone call sharing their successes—whether it be productive females, improved weaning weights, or cattle performing well on the rail. We utilized this bull across our entire heifer group last year, as he ranks in the top 15% of the breed for Calving Ease and the top 20% for Birth Weight, with an actual birth weight of just 65 pounds. His sire, Frosty, was a go-to bull in our program for phenotype and calving ease, and this son offers the same dependable deliverables. His dam is a beautiful Epic daughter out of our ICANDI donor that highlighted our bred division several years ago and now resides at Circle G Farms. Too often, calving-ease bulls are expected to simply check a few boxes—small calves that come easy. We believe this bull does that and a whole lot more. Study him on paper and you’ll find seven traits ranking in the top 15% of the breed, including top 2% for weaning weight, top 3% for yearling weight, top 10% for ADG, top 1% for carcass weight, and top 15% for terminal index. We believe his calves will be moderate at birth—he posted an actual birth weight of 84 pounds and carries a long, smooth shoulder that is favorable for calving. The New California cattle have done us very well, consistently offering look, power, and exceptional soundness. This bull has always been a standout in our program and led the entire fall group in weaning weight. I strongly encourage you to watch his video and, even better, come see him in person. Last year, this bull’s full brother was a sale feature and one of our top sellers demanding $8,500. This flush brother is nearly a carbon copy. He traces back to our proven Wide Range Donor 754, a cow notorious for producing sale toppers in the bull division over the past three years—regardless of the mating. The cross to Affirmed did exactly what we hoped for, adding frame, length of body, massive hip, and a strong front third. If you are looking for a purebred red calving ease bull, I’d put this guy at the top of your list. His Genomically Enhanced EPDs came back and he ranks in the top 1% of the breed for both Calving Ease and Birth Weight. On top of that his MCE is in the top 2%, Marb top 10% an API in the top 4% and TI top 15%. A very complete bull that is sound structured and offers plenty of punch. A full brother topped our 2024 sale demanding $9500. We are big fans of the Krown cattle. There is good reason not a single daughter of Krown left the place and found their way to the replacement pen. They come easy and just take off and grow. His mother has done an exceptional job for us as well and last year had one of our top open females. A bull that is hard to poke a hole in person or on paper. He boasts a $GN EPD in the top 10% of the breed.

If you are looking to add pounds and have cattle that feed and convert, we highly recommend this guy. Another leader in terms of weaning weight for our yearling division. Once we put all the bulls together to develop them for the sale, it was easy to confuse this guy as one of the falls. Once you see this guy sale day, you will admire him for his power and performance and depth of body. He had three flush mate brothers that either topped the sale or were among the high sellers in previous sales and goes back to the no miss Confide In Me Donor.

If you flip through this years catalog and previous years you will s ee this Dam pop up a lot. She has done a great job for us raising high sellers in the bull division and putting females back into our herd. This is her natural calf by Patriot. We really like the way this guy is bred. Money Maker is making waves in the Simmental breed and looks to be a game changer. On the dam side it goes back to the great female maker Chief. Before his Genomically Enhance EPDs came out, I would have recommended this guy as a heifer bull as his actual Birth Weight was 79 out of a first calf heifer. He has 8 traits that rank in the top 15% of the breed with his WW EPD being in the top 4%.

This bull checks a lot of boxes for us. He came out with an actual birthweight of 79 and has an adjusted weaning weight of 756 pounds. He is about as complete and functional as you can make one. He is in the top 10% of the breed for both CE and BW and we would recommend him for use on heifers. Unlike other calving ease bulls he offers performance at weaning and a strong terminal index. His mother is coming up on 11 years old and with solid performances year after year we elected to flush her. On her first cycle back after the flush she stuck AI and will be one of the first to calve again and still possess a perfect udder. Great friends and customers of ours at D&R Farms have bought two ¾ sibs out of this bull and have great success when taking their cattle all the way to the gird.
