The project outline As Hong Kong’s newest school, American School Hong Kong was confronted with the challenge of refurbishing an old building to serve as a place for STEAM collaboration, requiring flexible space within their Library Learning Centre. A clean design with soft lines plus mobility to quickly open up the central floor were key components in choosing a designer and furniture provider. Retaining the term “Library” first in the name of the space was a nod to the tradition and still-present impact of resources in a hard format. In par tnering with Raeco, ASHK wanted a provider who could assist in striking a balance between evolving practice and proven approaches to learning.

The ASHK learning community of teachers, parents and especially students have engaged with the LLC and speak highly of the inspiration they feel in the open design. New ways of doing things surface weekly as a result of the flexibility inherent in the space. Raeco was instrumental in carrying out a turn key project from design, delivery and install of product that ASHK will leverage for years to come.”
