1% for the Planet

Since our beginnings, we have remained committed to our mission to offer environmentally responsible products and to contribute to create a better world for all of us who live in it. That is why for four years now we have been part of the global organisation 1% for the Planet, through which nu- merous companies around the world are compromised to donating 1% of their revenues to different social and envi- ronmental organisations. Thanks to these partnerships with their affiliated organisations, we actively participate in crea- ting a real positive impact on the planet and society through the actions of the projects we support.

Global Recycled Standar (GRS)

All Lefrik fabrics bear the esteemed certification of the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), guaranteeing not only the recycled content of our products—from source to final product—but also the adherence to rigorous social and en- vironmental practices and the responsible use of chemical substances throughout production. The GRS organisation meticulously evaluates the recycled content of fabrics, promotes fair working conditions, and mitigates adverse environmental and chemical impacts throughout the manufacturing process. This encompasses all stages from fiber production to spinning, weaving, dye- ing, printing, and sewing. Moreover, Lefrik has recently undergone an audit and has been confirmed to be fully compliant with the Global Recy- cled Standard as a brand.

OUR PRODUCTS

Our Products

Our aim is to make a real difference in our customer’s everyday lives by designing products that evolve following the changes that surround us, keeping sustainability as our core. Design is an important first step in developing products that bring our values to our customers. Our design process starts by selecting materials and processes that have the lower negative impact possible on the environment and su- pport durability. We want our items to be used throughout years, even decades. We are continuously making improvements to our collec- tions to bring quality, reliable and design-driven everyday essentials, while keeping in mind how important it is to un- derstand the impact of our design decisions and develop products that fit in a circular business model.

Our Fabrics

Lefrik’s core value is reducing the use of virgin polyester and rather extending the life of discarded plastic bottles, while saving energy in the production process. — The Textile Exchange advocates for recycled polyester as a superior fiber choice due to its environmental benefits. By repurposing post-consumer waste, recycled polyester reduces air pollution and presents numerous advantages. At Lefrik, we exclusively utilize 100% RPET fabrics across our entire product range, crafting our entire collection from just five fabrics. This approach enhances our production efficiency and ensures easy recyclability of our products at the end of their lifecycle. RIPSTOP FABRIC : this technical fabric is very light, water and scratch resistant. Its unique texture gives our products a premium and distinctive finish at the same time it raised squares prevent the fabric from ripping, which makes it great for outdoor activities. OXFORD FABRIC : this material has been the main fabric used througout Lefrik’s history. The weaving type gives the fabric durable and breathable properties as well as a soft hand feeling which makes it the perfect choice for our products. It also has water-resistant properties that allow the fabric to have a versatille character. TECH FABRIC: this premium, lightweight and soft-hand feel technical fabric has water-resistant properties that allows us to create our most innovative products.

Recycling Process

Lefrik uses recycled polyester, which has been mechanically recycled. To achieve this, PET bottles are collected and transported to a recycling plant, where they are sorted and washed to remove impurities and non-plastic components such as labels. Once cleaned, the plastic bottles are ground into flakes, which are then dried, melted, and shredded into pellets for the manufacture of new products. These pellets are melted again, passed through a spinneret, and spun into long fibers, which are then spun into a new thread. The thread is wound onto spools, baled, and knitted into a new recycled polyester fabric. This fabric is then dyed under the OEKO TEX 100 standard, which guarantees that it is free from toxic chemical substances, and coated with TPE to make it water-repellent. Finally, the fabric is transported to Lefrik’s cut and sew supplier, who creates the final product.

Product Lifespan

Lefrik’s goal for circularity follows our four principles from the beginning: reduce, reuse, repair and recycle. Our products are built to last, taking care of every detail of the entire life cycle, from design to sourcing, manufacturing, distribution and disposal. We continue to increase the added value for our customers by providing convenient post-purchase services that ena- ble products to circulate and resources to be kept in use for as long as possible. We focus on different areas to ensure that our customers can extend the life of their Lefrik items and improve our efforts to work towards longevity and cir- cularity.

22

DESIGNING WITHOUT TRENDS: Longevity means quality, not only in terms of product durability, but also meaning ti- meless designs. We avoid trends that will not stood up the test of time and instead we focus on creating pieces that can become an everyday essential. MONOMATERIAL PRODUCTS: We have set a new long- term design vision to move towards a resilient and circu- lar system by using a single material to manufacture each product. This allows recyclability to become a much easier task, which is crucial to reduce our environmental impact and fulfill our sustainability goals. Our current use of no- blends fabrics helps us in the long-term to achieve this goal.

5 YEARS WARRANTY: We see our products as long-term investments, meaning that if within this period any Lefrik product develops a fault we will offer a suitable solution free of charge. REPAIR SERVICE: When possible, we want to give faulty products a new life, that is why we prioritise repairing as much as possible. We provide a full repair service in collaboration with local re- pair shops for our flagship customers. For our international and national customers, we offer to send them any replace- ment, hardware or trimming, that is required to keep using their Lefrik item. We have also created a collaborative map on our website where they can find or add a repair shop in each city, engaging our community in our sustainable and cooperative journey. If repairing it is not an option, we encourage repurposing or recycling. In our Flagship store we offer a collection service for worn or old backpacks in exchange for a discount to get a new one. In 2023, we received 148 repair request in our Madrid store, of which 12 finally resulted in the exchange for a new pro- duct because the reparation was not possible. Throught our online service, 31 repairs were solved by sending spare parts to both national (Spain) and international customers. REPURPOSING POLICY: One of the mayor global challen- ges of the textile industry is waste, especially the waste caused by destroying faulty items or past collections that were not sold. We have a strong commitment against any type of waste creation, and we continue to focus on maxi- mising the use and the value of our products. If repairing or reusing are not options, we partner with different charity organizations we donate products to in order to make sure that no products that could have a new life are wasted. To avoid waste, we have also organise Samples sales, where our customers can find items that were part of the design process and differ from final productions, or products that were developed, but not produced.

In 2023, 2% of our direct-to-consumer sales were samples.

Transport & Packaging

We prioritize environmentally friendly sea freight for transportation, carefully filling containers to maximize efficiency and avoi - ding air shipments whenever possible. Our factories in China, Vietnam, or Cambodia handle land transportation to the port, where goods are loaded onto containers and trans- ported to our Madrid warehouse via Valencia. Additionally, we optimize transportation by delivering directly from the origin country to neighboring regions such as Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

In line with our sustainability goals, we prio- ritize minimalist, plastic-free packaging, ensuring that all cardboard boxes and poly- bags used throughout the supply chain are recycled and FSC certified. Additionally, we repurpose received boxes to ship products to retailers. For direct-to-consumer orders, we utilize compostable bags made partially from corn starch, which are carbon-negative and bio- degradable, encouraging customers to reu- se them as compost for home plant grow- th. Our flagship store employs paper bags, offering customers the choice of reusable bags and electronic receipts to further re- duce environmental impact. To enhance efficiency and sustainability in our logistics, we strategically position warehouses across different regions. Our main warehouse in Spain serves European markets efficiently, reducing transportation

costs and environmental impact by shorte- ning shipping distances. Additionally, we stock inventory in our Chi- nese factory to meet demands from Asia and Oceania, decreasing lead times and improving customer satisfaction in these regions. Expanding into the American market, we established a subsidiary company and wa- rehouse in the United States to provide effi- cient service to our growing customer base in the region. This storage and distribution strategy is adaptable and scalable, ena- bling us to respond to market changes while consistently delivering high-quality service worldwide. Furthermore, shipping directly from our US warehouse significantly reduces carbon emissions associated with transatlantic shi- pping, aligning with our sustainability goals.

Suppliers

Our suppliers are situated across three dis- tinct regions: Vietnam, Cambodia, and Chi- na. Early on, we made the strategic decision to manufacture our products in Asia due to the region’s expertise in transforming plastic bottles into recycled polyester fabric. According to Greenpeace, global production of plastic bottles amounts to 500 billion an - nually, with China being the largest producer, accounting for 30% of the total output. Our RPET fabric is sourced from a recycling plant located in Jiangsu, China. Despite the considerable geographical dis- tance from our suppliers, we work closely together to ensure compliance with labour rights, health, safety and ethical labour stan- dards. This is supported by regular audits by bodies such as SEDEX, BSCI or SA8000, along with factory visits at least once a year to strengthen relationships with the team and review everything first hand.

2023 Review

In 2023, despite the persistent global cha- llenges, we remained resolute in our mission to make a positive impact on the planet while nurturing meaningful partnerships. A significant milestone was the establish - ment of a subsidiary company and warehou- se in the United States. This strategic move streamlined our supply chain, enabling direct and swift product delivery to US stockists and new customers through our newly laun- ched US website. Importantly, shipping from our US warehouse significantly reduced car - bon emissions, aligning with our sustainabili- ty goals.shipping, aligning with our sustaina- bility objectives.

38

In 2023, we expanded our environmental commitments by partnering with organizations like the Jane Goodall Institute and sponsoring Anzac, a rescued chimpanzee. Regarding our products, we achieved one of our goals by substituting all webbings in our Vandra collection with re- cycled alternatives in 2023. This initiative underscores our commitment to prolonging the life of post-consumer was- te and represents another stride towards reducing our envi- ronmental impact. 2023 was a year of significant achievements, marked by expansion, innovation, and im- pactful collaborations. As we look ahead, we remain committed to a sustainable growth of the company, while creating a positive legacy for generations to come.

1% for the Planet

Through our partnership with 1% for the Pla- net, this year we have collaborated with mul- tiple organisations around the world that dedicated to caring for the planet and its biodiversity. Each of these collaborations are detailed below:

46

Jane Goodall Institute

One of the most well-known animal resear- chers, Dr. Jane Goodall, has been wor- king for decades to protect chimpanzees and inspire people to conserve the natural world we all share, by improving the lives of people, animals and the environment. As in previous years, Lefrik continues to support J.G. Institute by donating backpacks to their team so that they can be used during their expeditions and be an useful accessory for their daily tasks. In addition to this, in 2023 we joined their Chimp Guardian Programme with a monetary donation to sponsor Anzac, a chimpanzee that was rescued by the Tchimpounga Recovery Centre and Nature Reserve after her mo- ther was attacked by poachers. Part of this donation was also destinated to J.G. Insti- tute’s programme for forest replanting in Dindéfelo, Senegal, a chimpanzee habitat.

Plastic Oceans Europe

Arbor Day Foundation

This charitable organization is dedicated to raising awareness of the issue of plastic pollution and providing solutions to the pro- blem. They do this by developing programs in education, activism, advocacy and scien- ce that inspire changes in consumer beha- viours, business practices and public policy. Since Lefrik also wants to be part, not only of the solutions, but also in the prevention and reduction of mass plastic consumption, this year we organiseda n event open to pu- blic in Madrid to talk about plastic pollution and discuss about ways to foster more sus- tainable communities. As part of our colla- boration, we also make product donations to Plastic Oceans Europe for their activities and events.

This is the world’s largest member nonpro- fit organisation dedicated to planting trees with the aim of safeguarding the health of our climate, our communities, and the bio- diversity of the planet.Their different tree recovery programs are carried across the United States, but also internationally. The programs are focused on forests and nei- ghborhoods of greatest need, like those who have lost trees in major catastrophes caused by forest fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and insects. This is our other partner in the USA, to whom we dona- te backpacks returned by our customers so that they can have a second life and be used by the team and the organization for their activities.

47

Village Walter

Kilian Jornet Foundation

This organisation has projects underway in Zambia and Mozambique where they im- prove the health and life opportunities of their communities by supporting lasting, local solutions to provide everyone with water, sanitation and hygiene. In 2023, we at Lefrik donated not only products to help them raise funds for their projects, or pro- vide volunteers with backpacks and ac- cessories for their field work. But we also donated money to support their project in Mozambique to bring toilets and clean wa- ter to Tsuanda School, where absenteeism rates due to illness is high and girls often miss up to one week of school per month because they cannot manage their mens- truation at school.

A Foundation created by Kilian Jornet, a Catalan professional sky running, trail run- ning, ski mountaineering, long distance running and mountaineering athlete, known as the most complete mountain athlete. The Foundation was built for the protection and preservation of mountain environments which is crucial for the well-being of the pla- net. We have collaborated with them for the first time this year by donating products for the outdoor activities of their team, plus a monetary donation for their ‘Restore The- Trails’ project. This is a project focused on the restoration of trails and degraded areas for the preservation of the environment and its ecosystems.

The Coral Planters

Coral reefs are home to over 25% of all mari- ne life, making them one of the most diver- se ecosystems on Earth. That is why The Coral Planters, a fast- growing association based in France, is working to restore coral reefs and preserve marine biodiversity. As we wanted to join this important cause, during Black Friday month we celebrated Coral Friday. During sixteen days we offered a special promotion, 20% for you and 5% for the pla- net. They focus on the rescue and recovery of horses that have experienced difficult si- tuations of mistreatment, isolation or aban- donment, and give them a dignified life by accompanying them in the process of be- coming free and healthy, and living safely in large natural spaces. As they often receive help from many vo- lunteers, we have donated backpacks and accessories to help them carry out their tasks in the field while we extend the lifes- pan of our products.

Fundación Emys

It is an environmental organisation for the conservation of natural heritage and wet- lands of Catalonia, with the main goal of ensuring the survival of the endangered turtles Emys orbicularis. Lefrik started to collaborate with this organisation in 2023 through an in-kind donation to equip their team with backpacks and accessories for their field work, as well as a monetary do- nation. This monetary donation was desti- nated to fund their work on protecting the Emys orbicularis, specifically, Lefrik’s team has sponsored one of the turtles in the pro- ject to finance the monitoring and survival of this turtle.

2024 Goals

— Designing with circularity in mind is at the core of our busi- ness, that is why we have set a new long-term design vision for 2024 with the aim to move towards a more resilient and circular system by using a single material to manufacture each Lefrik product. These mono- material products would allow recyclability to become a much easier task, which is crucial to reduce our environmental impact and fulfill our sustainability goals. Our current use of no-blends fabrics helps us in the long-term to achieve this goal. — In collaboration with IGO, one of our suppliers that is specialised in eco-friendly materials for bags, we are wor- king on coming up with a suitable recycled filling for our products, which is currently the only non-recycled mate- rial used in their production. This project would allow us to acquire a GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification for a specific collection of products, which would join our current GRS certification as company.

WHAT’S NEXT

— Lefrik’s core value is reducing the use of virgin materials, and rather repurposing post-consumer waste, so we are continuously seeking for innovative materials to use in our production that meet this standard. In 2024, we are looking at incorporating bio-based leather into our designs, starting from using these materials only in product details from our Vandra collection. — For 2024, we aim to give more visibility to our repair servi- ce, which is currently available for all our national and inter- national customers, but not actively communicated. This will include communication activities to create awareness within our community and ensure it is easily accessible for everyone, thus reinforcing our commitment to the durability and sustainability of our products. — As members of 1% for the Planet, we do not only focus on reducing our carbon footprint, but also to compensate it by giving back to the planet. By analysing our donations from previous years, we have developed a donations stra- tegy to plan our contributions throughout 2024. The goal is to ensure that we continue supporting the companies and causes to which we already donate, while also exploring new collaboration opportunities.
