That flickering torch of pine; jjjj My rays’ can illumine his soul’s black night, And oh, that his soul were Mine!” —Anna M. Van Hook. 24. Prayer the Pivot “But we will give ourselves contin ually to prayer” (Acts 6:4). There has been in missions no crisis which has not turned upon prayer as a pivot. When the secrets of all the unwritten history of the centuries are . unveiled, we shall discover for the- first time how the prayers of saints in the closets have controlled events.' . . , If the facts were but known, what a chapter might be written on God’S Intercessors! But most of them have been hidden with God in that holiest place whose veil has never yet been rent asunder, and their history per tains to the secret place where God dwells.—A. 'T. Pierson. 25. The Price of Sympathy “The cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?” (John 18:11).

istry, the power of testimony, and the power of worship. If we are not living by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us, and gave Himself for us (cf. Gal. 2:20), we shall neither be ef fectual servants, faithful witnesses, nor true worshipers. — Voice. 21. A Superlative Experience “He that winneth s o u l s is wise” (Prov. 11:30). Learrt to see souls. Love men for their souls. However pleasant one’s social relations, probe deeper to the soul’s need. “Lord, lay sonje soul upon my heart, And love that soul through me, And may I humbly do my part To win that soul for Thee.” If you have never had the thrill, the ineffable joy of leading another to Christ, of bringing some one else into the. family of God, -you have missed the most superlative expe rience open to a Christian. Do not be content to go along without it. —Selected. 22. Interceding in Prayer “ The dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death” (Lk. 1:78, 79).

We hear „continually of the thou-' sand millions of heathen and Moham medans living in midnight darkness, perishing for lack of the bread of life. We hear of millions of nominal Chris tians, the great majority of them al most as ignorant and indifferent as the heathen. . . Surely, if we believe what we profess, that God alone is able to help, that God certainly will help in answer to prayer, all this need ought to make intercessors of us, peo ple who give their lives to prayer for those around them.—-Andrew Murray. Does He Need Christ?. “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk In darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). A wooden cross on a summit bare, Set up in a pile of stone; An Indian bowing in worship there, He gropes in the dark all alone. The Christ from heaven beholds his face; But He beckons to you and to me, “ Go, téli him the news of redeeming grace That w ill set his spirit free. “ Go, tell him that I do not need his. light, 23.

Great faith is exhibited not so much in ability to do, as to suffer.. To have a sympathizing God we must, have-a suffering Saviour. . . We cannot do good to others save at a cost to our- T H E Y S E E K B O D I L Y R E FUG E A N D

SPIRITUAL SALVAT ION This mother with leprosy would give her life for her baby. It is very young, in fact the youngest baby with leprosy ever to come to the Mission Colony when these two were received. What a weary, lone some way they_ wandered before ¿they found a safe refuge and a Spiritual Salvation within the Mission gates. Such is the plight of many people with leprosy before Christians come to their rescue, bringing them not only world necessities but also salvation through the knowledge of Christ. "Money totbuy food is needed uryently 59 writes one of the missionaries. “The land is poor and these poverty stricken people are undernourished. Rice allowance has already been cut down and unless We have help we’ll have to reduce on their food. We n,eed you» help.’' Will you make an Easter offering to help carry out Christ's injunction "Cleanse the Lepers" and bring them the joy of the Resurrection?
