Matt Thatcher is proud to be a part of Jacobs House and of the boys and staff within it. Together, they have built and continue to foster a culture that is inclusive, supportive, and centred on enjoyment and the confidence to try new things. Matt remains committed to providing opportunities for student leadership, involvement, and self-expression, allowing students to feel connected to something they have helped create in a positive and meaningful way. Matt is a member of the Physical Education and Health department, a role he has held for the past decade. He is passionate about PE and Health, and enjoys being part of the team while working with the boys to help them achieve personal improvement and success. In the summer, Matt coaches athletics, specialising in long jump and triple jump. Outside College, He enjoys spending quality time with my wife, Kim, and their two children, Franklin and Bonnie. He also enjoys staying active and healthy.
Deputy Housemaster Charlotte de Roles
Charlotte de Roles was born and raised in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. She completed my studies in English and History at the University of Canterbury, where her passion for teaching grew, leading Charlotte to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching. She joined Christ’s College in 2022 as an English teacher. She has also taught History at the school. Charlotte has managed football and tennis teams, and enjoy her involvement in outdoor programmes. When she is not reading, she stays active through running, as well as water and snow sports. Working alongside Matt Thatcher, she will uphold and strengthen the positive traditions of Jacobs House.
