TERRAZAS / Terraces Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Profesor guía / Tutoring teacher: Mario Carreño Alumnos / Students: Juan José León, Diego Maige, Aline Meyer Se sitúa en el Barrio Inglés de Coquimbo, punto de encuentro entre dos dinámicas urbanas: la zona fundacional (ortogonal) y la zona alta (unidades aisladas). La existencia de tres grandes terrazas, una con una multicancha, permite reactivar el sector y reconectar la parte inferior con la superior de la ciudad. Las circulaciones públicas articuladas por barras de vivienda con vista hacia el puerto se combinan con programa comercial y comunitario en la zona de los pilares. La madera es un elemento clave, que permite alivianar los edificios por medio de marcos de madera con pilares compuestos, base para los diferentes módulos (habitación, estar y living-comedor). Located in the English neighborhood of Coquimbo, a meeting point between two urban dynamics: the foundational area (orthogonal) and the high town (isolated units). The existence of three large terraces, one with a multisports field, reactivates the sector and reconnects downtown to the upper city. Public circulations articulated by housing blocks overlooking the port are combined with commercial and community functions in the area of the columns. Wood is a key element that lightens the buildings by means of wooden frames and composite columns, forming the basis for different modules (bedroom, living room and dining room).
