The library will be located in the cellblock, using its central space to contain the areas of consultation, research and reading in a naturally lit environment with a translucent roof cover placed over the original trusses. The document deposit will be located in a concrete volume that completes the block on the west side of the site, following the lines of the directorate building facade. On the first level a new access and a literary cafe with reading spaces is placed on Chiloé Street. The Document Archive occupies the second and third levels.
La biblioteca se ubicará en el Edificio de Celdas, utilizando su espacio central para contener las áreas de consulta, búsqueda y lectura en un ambiente iluminado naturalmente de manera indirecta a través de una cubierta traslúcida ubicada sobre las cerchas originales. El depósito documental se ubicará en un volumen de hormigón visto que completa la manzana en el lado poniente del predio, continuando las líneas de fachada del edificio de Gendarmería. En el primer nivel se proyecta un nuevo acceso desde la calle Chiloé y un café literario con espacios de lectura. En el segundo y tercer nivel se ubica el Archivo Documental.
