PLAN MAESTRO NUEVA ALAMEDA PROVIDENCIA Nueva Alameda Providencia Master Plan Mejorar la calidad de vida de los habitantes de la ciudad, revitalizar espacios públicos y definir mejoras en el transporte público fueron requisitos centrales en esta convocatoria que busca impactar en 12 kilómetros del eje Alameda-Providencia. The core requirements for this competition were the improvement of quality of life for the city’s inhabitants, the renewal of public spaces and the enhancement of public transportation on a stretch comprising 12 kilometers of the Alameda-Providencia axis. Estructurado en dos etapas, el Gobierno Regional Metropolitano de Santiago lanzó el Concurso público internacional de Plan Maestro Conceptual Nueva Alameda Providencia, para afectar casi 12 kilómetros de extensión en las vías más importantes de Santiago, donde se concentran comercios, actividades cívicas, equipamiento de servicios así como por el transporte público más demandado de la Región Metropolitana. Las propuestas debían considerar también el patrimonio natural y edificado circundante, los usos de suelo existente, así como las actividades sociales actuales (y futuras) de este eje metropolitano. Se recibieron 23 propuestas y se seleccionaron cinco para la etapa final, de las cuales se escogieron los tres primeros lugares. El jurado fue integrado por representantes del gobierno, arquitectos y expertos en urbanismo tanto chilenos como internacionales. El director del concurso fue el arquitecto Luis Eduardo Bresciani. The Metropolitan Regional Government of Santiago launched an international public tender for the Nueva Alameda Providencia Conceptual Master Plan, structured in two stages. It involved almost 12 kilometers of the most important thoroughfare of Santiago, including commercial spaces, civic activities, service amenities, as well as the most highly demanded public transportation route in the Metropolitan Region. The proposals were also to consider the surrounding natural and built heritage and urban functions, as well as present and future social activities on this metropolitan axis. Twenty-three proposals were received and five were chosen for the final stage, from which the first three places were selected. The jury was composed of government representatives, architects and urban planning experts, both Chilean and foreign. The director of the competition was architect Luis Eduardo Bresciani.

Esta propuesta plantea una imagen unitaria y coherente que otorga un orden, escala e identidad metropolitana a todo el eje, al mismo tiempo que reconoce las particularidades urbanas de los distintos sectores. Se basa en vincular los nuevos requerimientos de este corredor de transporte en el eje Alameda-Providencia con la importante historia cívica y el carácter patrimonial que ha tenido este lugar para Santiago, creando en el proceso una nueva identidad a partir de la integración de sistemas de infraestructura, arquitectura, ecología y espacio público. Se buscó integrar, a través de una visión unitaria y sobria, los distintos tipos de flujos que convergen a lo largo del corredor. This proposal presents a unified and coherent image providing order, scale and a metropolitan identity to the whole axis, while at the same time recognition of the urban features of the various districts. It is based on the connection between the new requirements of the transportation corridor on the Alameda-Providencia axis and the important civic history and heritage character this urban feature has had for Santiago, creating in the process a new identity from the integration of infrastructure, architecture, ecology and public space systems. The object was the integration, with a restrained and unitary vision, of the different types of flows that converge along the corridor.
