Located on the Bay of Corral, the castle was part of the Spanish defensive system along with the forts at Niebla, Mancera and Amargos. By the reasonable addition of new and contemporary elements, the architectural base that contains the memories and desires of the community was reinforced with an innovative approach towards heritage preservation. Emphasis is placed on the consolidation of the pit as a central place: on one side the historical wall of the gun battery and on the other the new wall-building that will house the historical exhibition of the castle. The project completes a circuit that unifies and guides the tour through the fort, including a reinterpretation of the original dock, now destroyed.
Vista al interior del foso: lugar de recreaciones históricas. Interior view of the moat: a place for historical reenactments.
