Housemaster
Before taking on the role of Housemaster of Julius House, I had the privilege of serving as Deputy Housemaster of Jacobs House. I have also been involved in coaching and managing football and served as the Master-in-Charge – Tennis. Additionally, I am a keen tramper, often accompanying boys on Duke of Edinburgh trips as they work towards their Gold and Silver Hillary Awards. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, staying active, and travelling. The Julius House whakataukī, ‘He waka eke noa’, speaks directly to my vision for our House. I aspire to create an environment where every member feels empowered to strive for their best, whether in the classroom, on the field, or in the arts. This House will be a place where challenges are met with resilience, successes are shared and celebrated, and respect, integrity, and teamwork guide our actions. I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to make 2025 a successful and memorable year. Josh Kim, Housemaster Mobile: 027 268 1600 Email: josh.kim@christscollege.com
Tēnā koutou katoa Nau mai, haere mai, ki te Whare o Huriu! I was born in South Korea but have called Christchurch home since moving here with my family at just three months old. I studied History and Political Science at the University of Canterbury, where I developed a passion for teaching and learning, which, ultimately, led to me gaining a Master’s Degree in Education. I joined Christ’s College in 2021 as a Social Science teacher, specialising in History and Geography. The humanities have always fascinated me for the way they help us understand the world and our place in it. Through my teaching, I aim to inspire curiosity and critical thinking in ākonga, encouraging them to explore how the past and present shape our future. I believe the classroom, like a House community, is a place where ideas, identities, and perspectives come together to foster growth and understanding.
