SHAPING THE FUTURE OF YOUNG ARTISTS FOR GENERATIONS

Discovering the artists of tomorrow

Music speaks where words? and sometimes politics? fall short. As a universal language and powerful instrument of soft diplomacy, it builds bridges across borders, cultures and communities. The WFIMC unites around 130 leading competitions and music institutions across five continents. Together, we create pathways for exceptional young musicians, connecting them with conservatoires, universities, festivals, orchestras, cultural organisations, digital platforms and audiences around the world.

"The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another? and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world.?

Leonard Bernstein

130 Member Competitions on 5 continents.

Our competitions are more than moments of performance. They are part of a vibrant global cultural ecosystem?places where talent is discovered, artistic careers take shape, and ideas, traditions and experiences are shared. By bringing together young artists from every background and nationality, we promote excellence in music education, encourage artistic development and celebrate the extraordinary diversity of musical expression. WFIMC also fosters dialogue and mutual respect among the next generation of artists, helping them become cultural ambassadors in an increasingly interconnected world. Through initiatives such as Denationalisation , we celebrate musicians as individuals?not simply as representatives of a country? putting artistry, personality and human connection at the heart of international exchange.Founded in 1957 and based in Geneva, Switzerland, WFIMC is a member of the International Music Council of UNESCO in Paris. As the world?s leading network of international music competitions, we help young musicians cross borders, find their audiences and shape the future of music.

WFIMC,???? ??? ?????? ??? ??? ???,??? ???? ???? ?????. We were able to meet many members in person again after the pandemic at the WFIMC General Assembly 2023 in Hamamatsu and it is even more meaningful because it is the first time to be held in Asia since the GA 2024 in Tongyeong. We discussed the thoughts and goals of this era that we, as members of the federation, need to share once again, and the GA are expected to be helpful in many aspects of our acting plan and field. Really grateful to the organizers of WFIMC and Hamamatsu International Piano Competition for their efforts and we look forward to meeting at Parma 2024.? Eunjung Jang ISANGYUN Competition, Tongyeong
