2022 ACCOMPLISHMENTS With all of the challenges and restraints COVID-19 placed on us as a community and a health care provider, we were still able to achieve what we planned for with the help of our great patients, raving fans, and amazing team.

Celebrating Ashley Reisz Congrats on IV Sedation Certification!
Patient sedation is crucial to safely and comfortably performing more advanced dental procedures. It’s also essential to our ethos at Signature Smiles to provide anxiety-free dentistry. But sedation is an enormous responsibility that requires detailed knowledge and careful training. Dental assistant Ashley Reisz recently underwent IV Sedation Certification and passed with flying colors! Ashley gained her certification after attending four weekend classes. “Then we had a hands-on test for being certified in Ohio, and we took the board test to be nationally certified,” Ashley remembers. “And I passed both!” Certification requires an in-depth understanding of the multiple sedation techniques available for dentistry care. One must also know how to evaluate a patient to ensure the chosen sedation technique is safe for them and understand the workings of several anatomical systems in the human body. Training also involves learning how to prevent, recognize, and manage any potential complications that could arise from sedation.
Ashley credits her certification program with her success at understanding and applying the material. “It was a lot of information,” she says, “but my teacher was amazing. We also got to do hands-on learning so we would comprehend it better.” The course instructor also instilled Ashley with a lot of confidence before her first sedation. “My very first patient who needed an IV, I just went in and did it,” she said. “I didn’t second-guess myself.” We’re excited to have Ashley join the other members of our team in ensuring our patients receive top-quality care without the stress or anxiety that sometimes accompanies dental visits. We’re proud to call ourselves a zero-anxiety treatment practice, and Ashley will help us deliver on that promise with safety and professionalism.
