DRAA / Del Río Arquitectos Asociados
The DRAA team is lead by architects Nicolás del Rio (2001), Felipe Camus (2007) and Magdalena Besomi (2011), all from the Catholic University. In 2014 DRAA opens a branch in Berlin directed by Matthias J Götz (Engineering Diploma MSc OXB) to provide services to international projects and, starting this year, with a new studio in Frutillar. DRAA has been associated with other offices for specific projects. Its work is diverse including residential buildings, interior design, industrial architecture and predominantly single-family houses. Mountain architecture has become an area of special interest with several projects located in extreme regions, as well as the PHD research thesis at Oxford Brookes University by Nicolas del Río, collected in the book The Passive Solar Andes Refuge, published in Germany (LAP, 2013). Works by DRAA have been published in books and magazines, and several have been selected in biennials and exhibitions in Chile, Spain, Russia and the UK. In 2014 DRAA was invited to the architect selection of ochoquebradas in Los Vilos. Three schools in extreme regions stand out among their recent projects, in Robinson Crusoe, Porvenir and Puerto Natales, all won through public tenders held the Ministry of Education and currently in development. Nicolas del Rio has been professor at the Catholic University and Universidad San Sebastian and given lectures in several Chilean universities. In 2013 he won the Best New Private House award at the Wallpaper* Design Awards. DRAA was nominated in 2015 for the Iakov Chernikhov prize for young architects.
El equipo de DRAA lo lideran los arquitectos PUC Nicolás del Río (2001), Felipe Camus (2007) y Magdalena Besomi (2011). En 2014 se abre DRAA en Berlín, dirigida por Matthias J Götz (Diplomado en Ingeniería MSc OXB) con el fin de proveer servicios a proyectos en el exterior y, partir de este año, con una nueva sede en Frutillar. DRAA se ha asociado con otras oficinas por proyectos. Su trabajo es variado y abarca edificios habitacionales, diseño de interior, arquitectura industrial y principalmente viviendas unifamiliares. La arquitectura de montaña se ha convertido en un área de interés especial con varios proyectos ubicados en zonas extremas, además de la investigación de tesis de Magister en Oxford Brookes University de Nicolás del Río, recopilada en el libro The Passive Solar Andes Refuge , editado en Alemania (LAP, 2013). Obras de DRAA han sido publicadas en libros y revistas especializadas, y varias han sido seleccionadas en bienales y exposiciones en Chile, España, Rusia y Reino Unido. En 2014 DRAA fue invitado a la selección de arquitectos de Ochoquebradas en Los Vilos. Entre sus proyectos recientes destacan tres colegios en zonas extremas (Robinson Crusoe, Porvenir y Puerto Natales) ganados por concursos públicos del Mineduc y actualmente en desarrollo. Nicolás del Río ha sido profesor (PUC, USS) e invitado a charlas en varias universidades chilenas. En el 2013 obtuvo en Londres el premio Best New Private House por Wallpaper* Design Awards. El 2015 DRAA fue nominada al premio Iakov Chernikhov para arquitectos jóvenes.
