one who memorizes them and lays them up in the heart. In this chapter, the Apostle Paul speaks “touching the ministering to the saints,” and he shows the Chris tian’s privilege of “cheerful” giving. The Greek word translated "cheerful” in verse 7 is from the root from which we get the word “hilarious.” Do you want God to love you? Be a cheerful giver. His Word is true. Verse 8 is remarkable in its exceed ing comprehensiveness. It fairly heaps up the oromise of blessing. Studv it; ponder it; accept it. It will enrich your life as you enter into what the “grace”—the unmerited favor—of God can do for you. It is the verse God gave to Mrs. Edwin Young by which she stepped out, on faith, to support many missionaries in foreign lands, without human, visible promise of sup ply. Many other Christians likewise have experienced the richness this verse makes possible. Have you ? “Oh that men would praise''the Lord for his goodness”! The initial act of generosity is only the beginning. Verse 10 in the Re vised Version shows the increased fruit fulness that follows: “And he that supplieth seed to the sower and bread for food, shall supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.” Verses 11 through 14 further develop this theme, giving an exquisite treatise on the subject of ministering t o . the saints and of the consequent joy—all because the Lord Jesus Christ is known in His saving power, And in conclusion, the apostle shows, in contrast with even the best of hu man giving, the gift that is beyond description: “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” Helps for the Leader I. S onship R evealed When MacGregor’s boy was stolen during the war between the Scottish clans, and made to exchange nis clothes with a peasant boy, he revealed his identity, even in peasant clothes, by the way in which he used the things of the palace. We are known by the way we appreciate and use our Chris tian privileges. Among our privileges is access to the face of Jesus Christ., If we avail ourselves of this privilege frequently, if we are often found study ing this face in its different aspects, we indicate that we are born from above and are the sons of God. —David Gregg. II. A ccepting the "R unover ” When a boy, I went with my mother to buy sugar. The good grocer, in fill ing the scoop, would let a big lump fall off on the counter. “You may have that lump, my boy,”

he would say; “it’s the runover.” At first this seemed an accident; af terwards I thought it was intention. Anyway, it cost Mother nothing, and I believed the grocer could well afford to give it. He had barrels of it. When we go to the Lord for spiritual filling, we need not fear the running over. If we refuse to allow it, we may go away the poorer. But if we welcome the runover, others around us, hungering and thirsting, will be blessed by the richness and the sweetness of heaven’s exhaustless grace. —Sunday School Times. m . I nexhaustible When James G. Bennet sent Henry M. Stanley to search for Livingstone, he said: “Draw on me for a thousand pounds today to provide your equip ment, and when that is exhausted draw on me for another thousand, and when that is dope, draw another thousand, and when that is done, draw another: but find “Livingstone.” God authorizes us to draw on Him for wisdom, grace, and strength needed. When one day’s supply is exhausted, we are to draw another, and then an other, and then another. —Sunday School Times.'- TV. P roverbs 1:10-19 Meditation on the Lesson Murder, robbery, intrigue, greed, evil of various kinds are all depicted here in the passage of our lesson. A helpful group of instructions which supplement the passage in this lesson may be found in Proverbs 4:14-17; 23-27. Persons en gaged in crime have persuasive powers, and Solomon warns thus, “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” Separation from those who dishonor God is enjoined in both the Old Testa ment and the New Testament. “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standetb in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful” (Psa. 1:11. “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteous ness? and what communion hath light
