understands that these sons of Jacob are God’s chosen instruments for his destruction, and for the fulfillment of God’s eternal purposes in Christ. Once again, the evidence is made utterly conclusive by the vision from Christ, granted to the Seer of Patmos (cf. Rev. 12). Here, “a great red dragon” (v. 3) [which is Satan (v. 9)] “stood before the woman [Israel] . . . to devour her child [Christ] as soon as it was born” (v. 4). The story of Satan, attempting through Herod, to destroy the Child of Mary as soon as He was born' in Bethlehem of Judea is well known. But the Child “was caught up unto God, and to his throne,” even where, at the right hand of God, He is beyond any power of Satan to do Him harm. Robbed thus of His prey, Satan, in the madness of desperation, turns, and persecutes “the woman which brought forth the man child” (Rev. 12:13). The picture is in the very last hours of the end of the age (cf. Matt. 24:15-22, 30). The conclusion cannot be gainsaid. The age is to end in a devilish, Satan-led persecution of thè race through whom the Christ was incarnated in the flesh. Who shall say that the present tide of anti- Semitism rolling over every nation on the face of all the earth, is not the “beginning of sorrows” (Matt. 24:8) for Israel that shall culminate in the complete fulfillment of the great proph ecies foretelling a time of tribula tion for the sons of Jacob such as they have never yet seen, and out of which they “shall be saved” (Jer. 30: 7) ? Never before have the waves of Jewphobia been world-wide. As we write these words, we are reliably informed that seventeen ships, loaded with Jews, are upon the high seas, praying to God for some haven where they can find a refuge. And no nation extends a welcoming hand or opens its gates to them. British guns, formerly friendly, guard the way back through the gates of the home land, and Israel is turned back to mingle his tears of disappointment and agony with the salty brine of a thou sand seas. They who gave the Creator and Lord of all the earth His fleshly habitation, in words akin to His must cry: “Foxes have holes; the birds of the air have nests; but the brothers of the Lord of all the eath have not where to lay their heads!” Israel’s Future And Ours And now the modern Haman, Adolf Hitler, has given the word that has started his legions on the march toward the supremacy he seeks. All the world knows that if he is successful, his first imperial decree will call for the axe upon the necks of all Israel. He will be calling, of course, for the extinction of the “inextinctionable.” However, the enduring Word of God rings clear. When the tides of Jew-

phobia stretch around the globe, then the last shadows of the sunset of Gen tile dominion settle down over this earth, and that sun shall sink to rise no more. The virulence of Satan’s wrath against the Jews, manifested only by those who yield themselves to be his agents, is due, to the fact that “he [Satan] knoweth that he hath but a short time” (Rev. 12:12). It must be said in defense of the devil that he re fuses to join with his friends, the mod ernists, in rejecting the prophetic word, for “he knoweth that he hath but a short time”! Thank God, “he hath but a short time” in which to set nation against nations—to produce famines, pesti lences, earthquakes, and death—to fill human hearts with bitterness, jealousy, hatred, murder, and every ill—to strike down our loved ones even unto the grave! And there are those who also know that we have but a short time here to stay! Soon we shall be “caught up together” with our loved ones “to meet the Lord in the air,” far above the noise, the tumult, and the agonies of nations in their death throes. Only “a short time” (Hallelujah!) until “the Sun of righteousness [will] arise” o’er all the earth “with healing in his wings” (Mai. 4:2)! Arise, shine, O Sun!
