For the ninth straight year, Rick McGill Airport Toyota donated to the Breast Health Outreach Program.

The Breast Health Outreach Program continues to make a difference in the lives of women in our community, thanks to philanthropic support. For the ninth straight year, the medical center received a generous gift of $10,000 from Rick McGill Airport Toyota to support our program. Their generosity continues to provide essential breast health services in 19 East Tennessee counties. In 2023, a total of 4,218 women received a screening mammogram on the mobile mammography unit. Of those, 441 mammograms were provided at no cost, eliminating barriers to care and financial concerns of the women screened. Screenings on the mobile unit resulted in the diagnosis of 22 breast cancers last year, which would have gone undetected without this service.

This year marks a ten-year partnership between the Knoxville Fire Fighter’s Association and the medical center.

Philanthropic support is vital to our mission through healing, education and discovery. All philanthropic dollars remain in East Tennessee, and we are grateful for your generosity. Tailgating Against Cancer supports cancer patients, their families and physicians.

In 2011, Stephen York Coleman lost his courageous three- year battle against brain cancer at age 37. In his memory, the Coleman family founded Tailgating Against Cancer, a nonprofit organization that supports cancer patients, their families and physicians. Each year Tailgating Against Cancer hosts a golf tournament whose proceeds directly fund a Medical Oncology fellowship at the medical center. To date, over $685,000 has been contributed to this cause, funding six fellows in this important field. We are grateful to the Coleman family for their investment in educating future physicians. We would also like to note that 2023 marks our 10-year partnership with the Knoxville Firefighters Association.Since 2013, the Association has donated over $258,000 to multiple
