PCNY Member Experience Spring 2019

AROUND THE CLUB

FROM THE

PRESIDENT Dear Members, Spring is a special time of year at the Princeton Club and this spring is no exception. We welcomed 138 new members, launched a new Affiliate and Reciprocal Club, replaced our elevator cabs and mechanics, debuted PCTV and installed new software to manage staff payroll and benefits – all while continuing the longstanding tradition of excellence in educational programming and exceptional dining that defines our Club to the world. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Georgetown University, a world-renowned academic institution with an engaged NYC Alumni Association. Having been introduced to many, I can assure you they are a great group of passionate, successful and community minded individuals. Hoya Saxa! We are pleased to addThe National Arts Club in Gramercy Park to our prestigious list of Reciprocal Clubs. (See Page 4 in this issue for more information on this “Haven of the Arts.”) Thanks for permitting us time to work through our plans for the first floor lounge and business center. Now that our elevator project is complete, we are ready to get construction underway. In addition to the new first floor lounge and business center, a library will be installed on the 7th floor. The Club staff thanks you for your patience and understanding during this construction phase and will keep you up- to-date on our progress with newscasts from PCTV (found onYouTube, Facebook and on our website) along with Club signage. The Programs Committee is delighted to present a wide array of offerings this season. Don’t miss our annual celebrations for Passover, Easter and Mother’s Day.These are always popular events so be sure to make your reservations early. On April 23, the Club welcomes “The Fashion Chef ” Charlotte Neuville, who has taken the culinary world by storm with her couture confections. The Club has the privilege of hosting “60 Minutes” correspondent, Lesley Stahl, and a panel of award-winning journalists on April 30, as they examine challenges to the First Amendment under an Administration that views mainstream media as “fake news.” Come join a Princeton tradition at Triangle Night on May 10, when the Princeton Triangle Club showcases their musical comedy. On May 21, CBS News Medical Correspondent, Dr. Max Gomez, will take us through CRISPR, the groundbreaking technology in genetic editing. PCNY is proud to continue its role as host of the 2019 Princeton Prize in Race Relations. This ceremony honors today’s young leaders in the NewYork City area who are improving race relations in their schools and communities. Join us as we support and congratulate these high school students on May 1. As we transition into spring and nicer weather, look for our Wednesdays on the Terrace and Al Fresco week, when the restaurant moves outdoors for a week of grilled specialties, crisp cold wines and cocktails under the stars. Cheers,
