MVC HOSTED THE AMERICAN COLLEGE DANCE ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE Missouri Valley College hosted the American College Dance Association (ACDA) Conference on campus on March 5-7, 2022. The conference theme is Central Celebration. This conference was made up of face-to-face dance classes, research presentations, lectures taught by professional dancers from around the country, and amazing live performances from guest colleges. Approximately 200 faculty and students attended the conference from our region including Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Indiana, and Illinois. MVC DEBATE AND FORENSICS TEAM COMPETED AT NATIONAL TOURNAMENT The Missouri Valley College Debate and Forensics team competed at the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament, the first of two national tournaments. This tournament is one of the oldest and largest national tournaments in the country. The team of Eva Agcaoili and Cuauhtemoc Olvera went 4-1 in preliminary rounds of Parliamentary Debate and advanced to elimination rounds. In both quarterfinals and semifinals, they won on 2-1 decisions and advanced to the finals round, where they lost an excellent debate to be named Pi Kappa Delta NPDA JV National Runners Up. Sha Wilson also competed at the tournament and compiled a record of 3-2 in International Parliamentary Debate, adding to the team's point total. In sweepstakes, MVC scored 13th overall, competing against 63 other colleges and universities. MVC was also named in the top 10% of small schools' sweepstakes. This is the first time in MVC Debate and Forensics history that the team has placed in a national sweepstakes award. MVC was also the highest placing school from Missouri at the national tournament. MIKE MACHHOLZ PROMOTED TO MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Missouri Valley College President Dr. Bonnie Humphrey has promoted longtime Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Mike Machholz to Athletic Director for the college. Machholz retired from his duties as men’s wrestling head coach with the promotion.
