Make Impactful Father’s Day Memories Activities for Bonding With Your Dad

Dads do a lot for the family, and given what we’ve all recently gone through, they deserve our appreciation nowmore than ever. A dad’s role includes providing, teaching, and even disciplining when they need to. To top it off, they act as a hero to their kids at the same time. So to make Father’s Day count this year, you need to think outside the box —or in this case, the home. Remember though, it’s not about the gift you give but about showing your appreciation and making memories. So here are some fun activities you two will cherish for years.

If your dad normally handles the grill whenever the family comes together, tell him to step aside this Father’s Day. Grilling your dad’s favorite meal is a fun way to enjoy each other’s company and bond over a shared passion for cooking. To ensure the meal is a success, in the weeks prior to the holiday, ask him what his favorite meal is and how he prepares it. Then, bring over all the necessary supplies so he doesn’t have to provide anything. After you’ve finished eating, ensure he can still relax by cleaning the grill and washing all the dishes yourself.

a karaoke night or jam session might give him the best Father’s Day he’s ever had! Invite the entire family over (or bring everyone together over a video call) to do their best Steven Tyler impression. Organize all the music according to your dad’s favorites. To really impress him, do some prep work beforehand to have his favorites tracks queued up. The best part, though, is that since you’re hosting, he doesn’t have to worry about cleaning up afterward! If you have any great Father’s Day ideas, let me know the next time we talk. My dad and I are always looking for new ways to spend the day together.

If your dad loves history, then you’re in luck! Florida is steeped in culture and historical events, so there’s plenty for you to explore. For instance, St. Augustine is host to the oldest fort in the United States, Castillo de San Marcos. If you’re looking for an adventure, then you need to see Stiltsville. Rent a boat and view interesting structures that once hosted wealthy and influential tourists in the 1930s. If you’re looking to double up on your fishing and history knowledge, the Overseas Railroad in the Florida Keys was built in the early 1900s and still stands today.

It doesn’t matter if either of you are expert fishermen or not; fishing is a great way to make quality memories. If your dad’s an expert, this is a perfect time to bond as he shares his techniques with you. If he’s a novice fisher, it will be an adventure you both cherish for years as you teach each other how to fish! Even if the fish aren’t biting on Father’s Day, this time will give you the opportunity to have heartfelt conversations you both will enjoy.

If your dad is a long-standing member of the “KISS Army” or is an Iron Maiden fan, hosting
