They have also been able to rely on solid goaltending, with Corey Camirand and Shane Morris holding down the fort defensively to instil confidence in their teammates. Next weekend’s games will prove to be an interesting challenge for the Castors, as they face off against the Gatineau Hull Volant and the North Dundas Rockets, two teams against whom they have played for .500 this year. But for Coach Tim Kosch, these games are no different than the other games on the schedule. “Because of our success,” he said, “every team that faces us plays their best hockey. They play with that underdog mentality, so we have to be ready. We need to be vigilant, because we are aware that with the approa- ching holiday season, this is a time of year where players might not be as focused or as committed as they should be.”

The Clarence Castors extended their winning streak to seven games last Friday by beating the Vankleek Hill Cougars 3-1. The Castors got off to a roaring start, sco- ring three goals in the first period. The Cou- gars cut the home team’s lead to two in the second period, but the Castors managed to hold on to their lead to secure their seventh straight win and beat the visiting team 3-1. Tyler Cummins scored a goal and an assist for the Castors, while Cédrik Bisson and Jacob Servant scored a goal each. Graham Clermont and Jacob Savoie also notched an assist apiece in the victory. Clarence currently holds the second spot in the NCJHL general standings, one point behind the South Grenville Rangers, but with a game in hand over their closest rivals, and six points in front of the North Dundas Rockets.
