Heading into the kids’ space, Lacey continued her crisp black, white, and gold color scheme, but tweaked the patterns and accent colors to add a fun, youthful feel. In her daughter’s room, white panel curtains with black pom-pom trim running down the sides and a fun spotted wallpaper add a feminine touch. The curved lines of the rattan nightstands on either side of the bed add a 1970s feel that seems current among the other features of the room. Tall ceilings make the room feel spacious. The neon sign and accents of turquoise and green seem like every tween girl’s dream. Just down the hall, their son’s room has the same black and white color scheme detailed with masculine touches like a camel-colored leather headboard, a deer shoulder mount above the bed and wooden nightstands with hairpin legs set against a black shiplap feature wall. On the other side of the house in the master bedroom, the Shirleys’ oversized black bed and painted black dresser set against white walls add continuity to the house. The tall ceilings make the room feel open and spacious; plenty of windows allow for natural light. In the master bath, the cabinets have been painted black and further updated with gold hardware, faucets, and mirrors. Above a large soaking tub, hangs a gold sputnik light fixture that also modernizes the space. But the love the Shirleys have for their home is as much about the outside as the inside. In the backyard, they have a pool,
