Sgt. Eric Mueller began his police career as a special constable in the offender trans- port unit in Ottawa and was later hired as a provincial constable in 2006 later being promoted to sergeant in 2018. He was shot and killed after responding to a wellness check in Bourget on May 11, 2023. He is survived by his wife and two children. His killer, Alain Bellefeuille, was found guilty of first-degree murder and the attemp- ted murder of constables Marc Lauzon and François Gamache-Asselin. Bellefeuille received two life sentences that he will serve concurrently. He will have no chance for parole for 25 years and no chance of parole for 20 years for the attemp- ted murders, also concurrently. on referees, Ait-Ouazzou stepped forward to help. She officiated two games with enthusiasm and professionalism, asking for nothing in return. The Township said her willingness to give back simply for the joy of helping is an inspiring example of community spirit. The Positive Ticket program encourages residents to help identify young people who are making a difference in the community. Anyone who sees a youth aged 16 or younger spreading positivity is encouraged to nominate them by contacting the Township of Russell’s Public Safety and Enforcement Department. The Township also extended its thanks to the community groups and local businesses sponsoring prizes for the program, including the Kin Club, the Legion, Giant Tiger, McDo- nald’s and Tim Hortons.
The Township of Russell is recognizing local youth who make a positive diffe- rence in their community through its Positive Ticket program. Through the initiative, Public Safety and Enforcement Officers issue Positive Tickets to youth aged 16 and under who demonstrate kindness, helpfulness or community-minded behaviour. Each ticket includes a gift card donated by a local business as a way of recognizing and rewarding young residents who serve as positive role models. In June, local youth Samia Ait-Ouazzou received a Positive Ticket for volunteering as a referee during Wednesday evening recreational soccer games. When organizers found themselves short

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sergeant (Sgt.) Eric Mueller’s memory lives on through an annual golf tour- nament that raises important funds for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The fourth annual Sgt. Eric Mueller Cha- rity Golf Tournament was held last weekend at the Rockland Golf Club. This year’s edition of the charity event raised more than $50,000 for the Sgt. Eric Mueller Memorial Endowment Fund that was launched in support of the neonatal intensive care unit at CHEO In memory of Sgt. Mueller
