Proficiency tests ensure that laboratories are operating with the highest integrity.
Focus on
SGS continues to invest in new testing capabilities, including those necessary to support the energy transition and reduction of greenhouse gases. We provide testing support to clients starting up industries and processes tailored to renewable energy, materials, and carbon capture. Using our state-of-the-art laboratories, we can test impurities at low ppb levels in carbon dioxide, be it for underground storage or re- use of CO2 (to produce e-fuels), hydrogen at fueling stations or production sites, to ensure you meet quality specifications. We also provide biogenic content analyses on all sorts of matrices, offering a range of specialized technologies and methods, such as LSC (Liquid Scintillation Counting), AMS (Accelerated Mass Spectroscopy) & Selective Dissolution (ISO 21644). Renewable energy and materials
SGS seeks to maintain laboratory quality and monitor proficiency by taking part in both internal and third-party round robin testing programs, together with internal & independent audits and rigorous training and competency compliance programs. We are an active member of many industry bodies, groups and organizations, including those within ASTM, ISO, CEN, EI (the Energy Institute, formerly the Institute of Petroleum) and IFIA. We invest heavily in our technical experts, equipment and software to ensure that our services are technically superior in all areas and meet or exceed ASTM, ISO and industry requirements. Ensuring quality to build confidence
Understanding your data is important, but trusting that your data is defensible is crucial.
Our global network of laboratories tests: • Renewable feedstock from (non) biological origin: woodchips, UCO, pyrolysis oil • Renewable fuels: HVO, FAME, SAF, bio-ethanol/methanol • Energy carriers: hydrogen, ammonia • Carbon Capture & Utilization (CCU’s): carbon dioxide Whatever the industry plants, we can support: • Carbon Capture Plants • Refineries co-processing biomass • Plants producing HVO & SAF and fuel blending facilities • E-fuel plants • Chemical recycling of plastic plants
SGS is involved in setting the world standard for hydrogen by contributing to ISO / TC 197 technical committees for hydrogen Discover why hydrogen quality is important
